Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Health Information Technician.

Temporary Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Health Information Management Services, performs a variety of data entry, analysis and clerical processing tasks associated with student immunization compliance, and maintenance of the medical records of Northwestern University' students. Scans completed Student Immunization Form and other health information into the Electronic Medical Record system according to established procedures and productivity standards.

Performs data entry and clerical processing tasks to ensure all student health records are in compliance with Illinois State law and University regulations. This includes evaluating, interpreting and data entry of Student Immunization Record forms for qualifying students and supplemental health record documentation. Inform students of compliance status and health record deficiencies verbally or in writing. Ensures confidentiality of health information and patient privacy by adherence to departmental policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Responds to various requests concerning health information via phone, fax, correspondence, email and face-to-face.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • One year experience providing clerical support and use of a computer workstation is highly recommended.

  • Good customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, medical personnel, and staff via phone, writing and face-to face interaction.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
