The Vice President, Revenue Cycle is responsible for the management of the Springfield Clinic's accounts receivable to optimize reimbursement in a compliant fashion. Scope of responsibility includes Patient Accounting functions such as billing, collections, account follow-up, denials, cash management/application, revenue integrity and charge capture and prior authorizations; and Health Information Management functions such as coding, document management, release of information, coding auditing and education and EHR record integrity. Serves as a change agent in a constantly changing and growing multi-specialty practice and drives process and systems supporting the change and growth. Provides subject matter expertise related to the development of a compliant, comprehensive, professional revenue cycle division. Is accountable for protecting the Clinic's accounts receivable asset by ensuring that contemporary processes and systems are utilized that promote strong cash collections, minimize bad debt and provide an excellent patient experience.

Essential Standard Job Functions

  • Drive modernization of billing platforms and front-end digital tools.
  • Serve as a key partner to the CFO and executive team in aligning revenue cycle strategy with company-wide financial goals.
  • Support payer contracting strategy and Value-Based Payment (VBP) readiness efforts.
  • Leads and directs the Revenue Cycle Division's activities through reporting Directors with guidance from the CFO. Establishes operational goals, objectives and budgets. Responsibilities include the planning of optimal operating policies and procedures required to deliver quality services and enhance operational processes and workflows. Collaborates closely with physicians and operations leadership to align revenue cycle processes with organizational workflows.   • Designs and oversees an industry-leading revenue cycle operational model that ensures fiscal responsibility and high physician and customer satisfaction, organizational efficiency, and strong financial performance while assuring accurate and complete data collection, streamlined financial clearance functions prior to service and sound cash collections processes.
  • Demonstrate success leading enterprise-wide revenue cycle transformation, workforce optimization, and technology modernization.
  • Monitors ongoing performance of the revenue cycle through the development, production and distribution of performance metrics. Facilitates performance improvement/process redesign as needed.
  • Oversees all contracted/outsourced services. Builds and maintains strong relationships with external vendors to ensure service quality, cost-effectiveness and alignment with revenue cycle goals. Effectively negotiates contracted arrangements and manages performance from all vendors.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with subordinates and superiors regarding the status and condition of the revenue cycle operations; raises issues/concerns timely and appropriately.
  • Communicates, collaborates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting directors and peers to ensure that division and system goals, objectives and operational budgets are met.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directives from regulatory agencies, governmental bodies and third parties. Responsible for responding to any legislation/regulatory billing changes.
  • Develops, implements and maintains compliant policies and practices for all departments within the revenue cycle division.
  • Comply with Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments as required by policy.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field is required. Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a progressively responsible healthcare revenue cycle and/or patient financial services role is required, of which five of those years are in an executive/vice-president position. Experience with billing and collections at a multi-specialty medical group preferred

Salary

Approximate starting base salary of $250K with bonus incentive opportunity. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
