Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled cell biologist to join our group within the Human Biology department at our US Research Hub. This laboratory-based role is critical to advancing our early discovery efforts through the development and application of physiologically relevant in vitro models that mimic complex disease biology. The successful candidate will leverage cutting-edge technologies, including primary human cells, phenotypic profiling, gene editing, and functional genomics, to drive target discovery and validation efforts in areas of high unmet medical need. Working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment, you will generate impactful insights that inform and accelerate therapeutic discovery and development.

Responsibilities include:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Laboratory-based role

  • Lead the design and execution of experiments involving primary human cells and advanced in vitro systems to support early target discovery, validation and mechanistic studies.

  • Develop and apply complex cellular models (e.g., co-culture, 3D systems) to better recapitulate human disease biology (e.g. autoimmune, fibrosis).

  • Apply CRISPR-based gene editing, molecular biology, automation, and high-dimensional flow cytometry techniques to interrogate gene function in disease contexts.

  • Translate biological insights into clinically actionable therapeutic strategies, aligned with disease-relevant endpoints.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external partners in human genetics, computational biology, AI/ML, automation, and disease areas.

  • Maintain excellent experimental records according to GSK compliance.

  • Communicate experimental findings effectively (in written and verbal formats) in internal and external scientific forums

Why You?

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering or related life sciences field

  • 2+ years of research experience in a postdoctoral or industry setting

  • Authorship or coauthorship on peerreviewed scientific publications.

  • Three or more years of handson experience performing basic molecular and cellular techniques, such as molecular cloning, immunostaining, flow cytometry, ELISA, and cell culture.

  • Handson experience working with advanced cellular models, including primary cell cultures, coculture systems, and/or 3D cell systems.

Preferred Experience

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience with multi-omics, high-dimensional flow cytometry, MSD, automated platforms, and/or high-content imaging technologies.

  • Strong scientific curiosity with a drive to innovate and continuously learn

  • Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative and matrixed environments

  • Quick learner who is driven to deliver impact.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts

  • Emerging or demonstrated scientific leadership, with the ability to influence project direction and mentor others
