THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection has a vacancy for a Clerical Assistant 2 in the Division of Reporting and Fee Collection. In this role, you will assist the division in efficiently processing approximately $120 million in annual fees associated with the Waste Transportation Safety Act (Act 90 of 2002), the Solid Waste Management Act (Act 97 of 1980), Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (Act 108 of 1988), and the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling, and Reduction Act (Act 101 of 1988).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, the Clerical Assistant 2 will have responsibility for the review, maintenance and control of data in the hazardous waste, municipal, and residual waste name and address directories of the Pennsylvania Waste Information Management System (PWIMS). In addition, you will serve as a backup timekeeper for the Bureau of Waste Management, review and process Act 90 one time exemption requests from external clients, and review and process WTSP PIN reset requests from external clients requesting access to the electronic waste hauler licensing application. In addition, you will be required to travel to attend meetings or conferences that pertain to the job duties. This may on occasion require extended daily travel or overnight travel. In this position, duties are performed with considerable independence, but problems or issues are referred to a technical supervisor for resolution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
