Job Description

The Server Engineer is a member of the Server & Storage Group within Technical Services. Responsible for planning, engineering, installing, monitoring, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex problems associated with servers and storage in a 24x7x365 high-availability healthcare environment. Consults with the Infrastructure Supervisor on complex server and storage related issues. Responsibilities include planning, design, forecasting, deployment, documentation, capacity management, patching, updates, and other ongoing daily management of servers and storage. Daily interaction with Applications Analysts, Database Administrators, and other members of Technical Services on the day-to-day operations and projects that depend on server and storage components. Mentoring, project management, excellent troubleshooting and communication skills are required for success. Will be required to provide 24x7 on-call rotation with some evening and weekend work required as necessary. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications ? Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND four years relevant server and storage work experience in Information Technology within healthcare or other 24/7 high-availability environment.OREight years relevant server and storage work experience in Information Technology with at least two years' experience being within healthcare or other 24/7 high-availability environment.Plus:1) Successful completion of MCSA, MCP in Windows Server, CompTIA Server+, VMware, or other comparable certification. Must present evidence of certification.2) Demonstrated experience working with Windows server services such as WINS, DHCP, DNS, FTP, IIS, RIS, RAS, terminal services, and file and print services.3) Comprehensive knowledge of server backup, storage, and maintenance principles.4) Demonstrated working knowledge of server-class hardware and related configuration and management software.5) Demonstrated working knowledge of enterprise storage area networks.6) Demonstrated working knowledge of switched Ethernet, VLAN, and other network concepts.7) Experience with server virtualization using VMware.8) Understanding of the concepts of Internet, VPN, Intranet, and Extranets.9) Comprehension of the OSI reference model.10) Must demonstrate excellent written/verbal interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.11) Ability to build organizational partnerships with others, and be able to negotiate and build consensus.12) Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks. Must take the initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision and direction.13) Demonstrated resourcefulness, initiative, and analytical abilities.14) Must be able to work varied shifts and/or additional hours.15) Ability to read, write, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.Preferred Qualifications ? 16) Successful completion of additional related certification such as MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, etc.17) Experience with EMC storage, IBM servers, and Cisco UCS servers.18) Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, and Citrix.

Salary Range:

$63.65 - $95.48 USD Hour
