We're seeking a Senior Data Quality Analyst in Portland in Tech & Data to help us take vision to value and create lasting impact.
SUMMARY
The Senior Data Quality Analyst is a hands-on technical resource responsible for executing data profiling, quality assessments, and root cause identification across legacy and modern data sources as part of North Highland's Data Quality Readiness Assessment project. This role is central to uncovering data quality issues, documenting findings, and supporting the development of actionable remediation plans. The DQ Analyst works closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure that data profiling results are accurate, actionable, and aligned with the client's operational realities and business objectives.
YOU WILL:
Execute iterative data profiling sprints on prioritized data sources and datasets, focusing on completeness, consistency, accuracy, and uniqueness.
Develop and run complex SQL queries and utilize profiling tools to analyze data structures, identify anomalies, missing values, duplicates, and undocumented definitions.
Document and analyze data quality issues, including inconsistent formats, missing values, duplicates, and undocumented definitions.
Trace root causes of data quality issues through process and system analysis, collaborating with business and technical SMEs.
Maintain a Data Quality Issue Log and Remediation Recommendations, ensuring transparency and traceability of all findings.
Support the creation of comprehensive data profiling reports, data dictionaries, and current state mapping documentation.
Engage with client functional teams to validate findings, contextualize issues, and prioritize remediation actions.
Provide input to the development of business rules, cleansing logic, and data transformation requirements.
Support knowledge transfer and documentation updates to ensure findings and recommendations are actionable and sustainable for the client's teams.
Participate in collaborative workshops, sprint reviews, and regular stand-ups with project and client teams.
Leverage a custom Agentic AI solution for support acceleration of data profiling outputs and analysis.
IDEALLY, WE'D LIKE:
5+ years of experience in data analysis, data profiling, ETL, or business intelligence within complex data environments.
Proficiency in SQL and experience developing and optimizing complex queries for data profiling and analysis.
Experience with data profiling and quality assessment tools (e.g., Informatica, Atacama, custom SQL, Python-based tools).
Strong understanding of data quality dimensions (completeness, consistency, accuracy, timeliness, uniqueness, validity).
Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2) and familiarity with legacy/mainframe data sources.
Demonstrated ability to document data quality issues, root causes, and remediation recommendations in a clear and actionable manner.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a systematic approach to data assessment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data architects, and client SMEs.
Experience with leveraging AI/Agentic solutions and or tools to accelerate Data quality analysis and/or profiling activities.
Experience in public sector, transportation, or highly regulated environments.
Familiarity with data migration projects and legacy-to-modern system transitions.
