POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Urology at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Clinical Research Postdoctoral Scholar to support and expand the department's sponsored and investigatorinitiated research portfolio. This position will work closely with urology faculty to manage clinical trials, develop investigatorinitiated protocols (IIT), and support the research team.

The position emphasizes clinical research development, study management, team leadership, and scholarly productivity, with opportunities for authorship, grant submissions, and mentorship in academic research.

Key responsibilities include serving as the primary coordinator for a variety of human subject clinical trials and partnering with faculty to design and operationalize IITs. The role requires a background in medicine and/or research in a related field.

The research scholar will assist Urology faculty, medical students, and residents with:

  • All stages of clinical trial execution, from study startup through closeout, including regulatory oversight, recruitment, clinical visits, and data collection
  • Data management including REDCap, TriNetX, database development, data quality oversight, and statistical support
  • Develop pilot or feasibility studies including device testing, biobanking, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Contribute to abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and grant applications.

This position requires an M.D. or Ph.D. with experience or equivalent training in urology, clinical research, or related field. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized, detailoriented, capable of managing multiple concurrent projects, and able to function both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
