Job Overview

The Enterprise Architect is a senior strategic technology leader responsible for aligning enterprise technology capabilities with business strategy and long-term organizational objectives. This role defines enterprise architectural direction, establishes guardrails, and facilitates cross-domain coordination to ensure technology investments deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable value.

The Enterprise Architect operates at the enterprise and portfolio level rather than within individual delivery teams. This role translates executive technology strategy into actionable architecture principles, target-state models, and governance processes. The Enterprise Architect partners closely with domain leaders, Solutions Architects, and executive leadership to ensure cross-functional alignment, architectural consistency, and informed decision-making across major initiatives.

Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, capability models, and target-state roadmaps that align technology strategy with business priorities.
Maintain and evolve enterprise architecture artifacts, reference architectures, standards documentation, and architectural decision records to ensure accuracy, transparency, and organizational alignment.
Provide architectural oversight and enterprise impact assessment for major initiatives, ensuring alignment with approved standards, long-term scalability, and cross-domain integration considerations.
Facilitate and participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) and related governance forums to guide architectural decisions and surface enterprise-level risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies.
Maintain a holistic view of the enterprise technology landscape, identifying redundancy, fragmentation, modernization opportunities, and architectural technical debt.
Collaborate with Solution, Infrastructure, Security, and Data Architects to ensure consistent application of enterprise standards and reference patterns across initiatives.
Guide the evaluation of build-versus-buy decisions at the enterprise level, including assessment of SaaS platforms, commercial products, and custom development approaches for long-term strategic fit.
Guide the enterprise adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies by defining architectural guardrails, evaluating platforms, and ensuring AI initiatives align with enterprise security, data governance, and technology strategy.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to inform enterprise technology direction, modernization strategies, and continuous improvement efforts.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Leverages enterprise architecture principles, reference architectures, and governance processes to drive alignment across domains and initiatives.
Strong understanding of enterprise systems, cloud platforms, data architecture, integration patterns, security principles, and application portfolio management.
Demonstrated ability to assess enterprise-wide architectural tradeoffs, technical debt, and long-term sustainability impacts.
Experience facilitating governance discussions and communicating complex architectural considerations to both technical and executive stakeholders.
Ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across multiple functional domains.
Strong systems thinking and ability to operate effectively at strategic and portfolio levels.
Familiarity with AI strategy, emerging technologies, and modern cloud-based architectures is preferred.
