Stakeholder Engagement Director
Building on our past. Ready for the future. Play an integral role in shaping how major energy and infrastructure projects connect with communities, governments, and industry partners. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of project delivery and public trust-ensuring that Worley's work is understood, supported, and aligned with the communities we serve. You will be responsible for leading stakeholder engagement strategies that go beyond communication-building durable relationships, navigating complex political and cultural landscapes, and reinforcing Worley's reputation as a transparent, responsible, and forward-thinking partner. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE In partnership with our key customers, you will play a critical role in building trust and meaningful relationships with local communities, Indigenous stakeholders, government entities, and industry partners. This position ensures that project execution aligns with community expectations while maintaining Worley's social license to operate. You will serve as a senior representative of Worley-someone who can confidently engage across a wide spectrum of audiences, from tribal leadership and elected officials to industry executives-while remaining grounded in project realities, execution strategy, and long-term community impact. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Community & Stakeholder Engagement * Lead the development and execution of inclusive engagement strategies that foster open, transparent communication with local communities and stakeholders. * Represent Worley in meetings with elected officials, tribal leadership, and community groups-balancing technical project knowledge with cultural and social awareness. * Navigate complex stakeholder environments, including Alaska Native communities, ensuring respectful, informed, and effective engagement. * Participate in both formal and informal engagements (public forums, private meetings, community events), recognizing that trust is often built outside structured settings. Government & Industry Relations * Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders. * Demonstrate working knowledge of regional political dynamics, including relationships between local, borough, state, and Indigenous leadership structures. * Support industry engagement efforts by representing Worley's capabilities, experience, and execution philosophy to partners and vendors. * Facilitate introductions and connections between stakeholders, clients, and project teams to support alignment and delivery. Public Communications & Representation * Act as a visible and credible voice for the project in media engagements, public forums, and industry events. * Ensure all communications reflect transparency, cultural awareness, and alignment with Worley's sustainability commitments. * Prepare for and respond to a broad range of stakeholder questions-spanning workforce development, environmental impact, tax considerations, and project execution. Social Impact & Community Investment * Monitor and assess the social, economic, and environmental impacts of project activities. * Contribute to the development of community investment strategies that create long-term value, including workforce development, education partnerships, and local business engagement. * Collaborate with project leadership to ensure community priorities are integrated into project planning and delivery. Workforce Development Alignment * Engage with workforce development institutions, unions, and training organizations to support project staffing strategies. * Maintain a strong understanding of regional workforce capabilities, training pipelines, and political dynamics influencing workforce initiatives. * Guide conversations toward practical, sustainable outcomes-balancing long-term workforce development with immediate project needs. Project Integration & Execution Support * Maintain a strong working knowledge and understanding of project scope, schedule, execution strategy, and geographic considerations. * Respond confidently to stakeholder inquiries related to construction, logistics, and project planning. * Act as a bridge between external stakeholders and internal project teams, ensuring alignment and clarity. Crisis Communication & Risk Management * Contribute to the development and implementation of communication strategies to manage sensitive issues or community concerns. * Protect community trust and project integrity during high-pressure or rapidly evolving situations. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting * Ensure all stakeholder engagement activities comply with applicable regulations, permits, and Worley standards. * Maintain accurate documentation and reporting to support transparency and accountability. #LI-JS4 What you'll bring to the role * Extensive experience in large project delivery and stakeholder engagement-ideally within energy, infrastructure, or resource development sectors. * A strong understanding of Alaska's cultural, political, and economic landscape, including Indigenous communities and governance structures. * The ability to operate credibly at a senior level-engaging with executives, government leaders, and community representatives with confidence and authenticity. * Deep knowledge of community engagement best practices, sustainability principles, and corporate social responsibility frameworks. * Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex project information into clear, meaningful dialogue. * Proven capability to manage sensitive topics, build consensus, and maintain stakeholder confidence under scrutiny. * Strong situational awareness and adaptability in dynamic, high-visibility environments. * Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams. * Working knowledge of workforce development systems, training institutions, and labor dynamics relevant to large-scale projects. * Practical understanding of project delivery and construction execution, with the ability to engage in detailed, technical discussions when required. * Proficiency with digital communication tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office and social media channels.
