What to Expect
As a team member of Tesla, you will be working onequipment improvements,fabricationprojects,as well asrepair or preventative maintenance projects,shoulder to shoulderwith yoursupervisingequipment engineer,in addition tosupporting other equipment engineers,process engineers, controls engineers andthemaintenance teamtoimprove equipment OEE and production line efficiency / ergonomics.Analysis, troubleshooting andimplementation ofequipmentprojects- consisting ofdata analysis, issue diagnosis, repair,fabrication, assembly -are activities that will take place on a daily basis whileensuringsafety protocols and PPE requirements areadhered to.

What You'll Do
  • Day-to-daycoverage of production line equipment: respond to alarms, breakdowns, and production requests to minimize downtime

  • Diagnoses equipment failures, find root cause and communicate actions taken to the rest of the team

  • Evaluate failures and provide technical solutions to improve quality and OEE in the specified area, interpreting and following basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products

  • Take initiative to create, implement, and improve PM documents or schedules, under the direction of theEquipment Engineer andMaintenance Supervisor

  • Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, and improvement working with Spares Coordinator and Maintenance Engineering to RMA faulty components and communicate needs to the vendor

  • Work with Process and Equipment engineering and other cross functional groups to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, review procedures, and minimize equipment downtime.

  • Active leader of a TPM team while taking on improvement projects to assist in improving the factory


What You'll Bring
  • Experience using engineering and root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, DMAIC, 8D, etc

  • Ability to understand the function of a system (from a PID, process flow diagram, Siemens ladder and function block diagrams)

  • Experience in troubleshooting, repairing or replacing malfunctioning or improperly specified or configured components or logic

  • Experience in data analytics, to analyze large datasets and present data in effective ways such as Pareto diagrams, Histograms, Boxplots, as well as the ability to look for patterns and "silver threads" to discover hidden trends, correlations and root causes of system failures or malfunction, and system performance and capability

  • Functional understanding of engineering topics such as mechanics, materials science, electrical and electrical fundamentals, fluid dynamics, heat transfer

  • Applied understanding of the function of common automation components such as proximity, temperature and vibration sensors; PLCs, IO blocks, network switches; motors, brakes and VFDs; pneumatic valves, cylinders, switches, air motors, gages;electrical disconnects, circuit breakers, relays, power supplies, brake resistors

  • Working proficiency with 3D CAD software (SOLIDWORKS,CATIA,Inventor, Solid Edge, etc.) is strongly desired

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day

  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain

  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs

  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts

  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day

  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures

  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing

  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
