As a Surgical Technologist at Newton Wellesley Hospital, you'll play a key role in supporting safe, efficient surgical care. You'll work closely with surgeons, nurses, and the perioperative team to prepare the operating room, maintain sterile technique, and ensure every procedure runs smoothly for the patients we serve.
This role includes direct patient care.
$10,000.00 Sign-on Bonus for eligible hires!
What You'll Do
*Prepare the operating room for upcoming procedures
*Set up sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
*Transport patients to the OR and assist with positioning and comfort
*Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures
*Maintain strict sterile technique and proper instrument handling
*Document counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments
*Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and the full surgical team
*Assist with prepping the surgical site, including draping and sterile solutions
*Manage drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon

What You Bring

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licenses & Certifications

  • CST (NBSTSA)
  • BLS preferred
  • Other related certifications may be considered

Experience

  • 0-1 year as a Surgical Technologist required
  • 1-2 years in a similar surgical setting preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique
  • Familiarity with OR equipment and technology
  • Strong attention to detail in a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
  • Understanding of infection control and patient safety practices

Work Environment

This is a fastpaced, teamoriented surgical environment where collaboration and precision are essential to patient care.

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, and handling
  • Occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching
  • Rare climbing or crawling
  • Requires strong visual acuity, communication, and hearing
