Electrical Engineering is recognized within Air Liquide as a Core Technology and is expected to provide in house expertise on all electrical matters. This position operates on a North and South American basis for operations and projects support. The individual will perform work as part of the North American Platform in support of the international plants. Individual will also provide a support role for the LIPORs and capital projects during the acceptance of the electrical equipment, motors and startup assistance. Also will act as the on-site electrical supervisor for all the electrical projects executed by projects group and zone projects. The successful candidate will also provide support for LI OPS issues.

- Provide electrical support for Air Liquide North and South America operating plants.
- Provide technical guidance to operating plants from a corporate level on Local, National, & International Codes, Standards, Policies, and Procedures.
- Perform electrical support services for Large Industries Plant Projects execution
- Will require travel within region (approximately 50%)
- Lead repairs and/or installation of medium voltage electrical apparatus including switchgear, transformers, motors, and protective relays.
- Have the ability and experience to troubleshoot high voltage substations, switchgear, relaying, transformers, motor control centers, and electric synchronous motors.
- Direct and oversee vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and equipment to ensure quality.
- Issue repair reports at the conclusion of critical jobs for proper historical documentation
Projects On-site Electrical Supervisor
- Responsible for Electrical Construction Supervision on Large Industries Plant Projects; scheduling interface, inspecting, check out, and start up of electrical systems.
- Supports Project Management during the construction phase of projects by resolving technical and construction problems, and coordinating needed input from the external engineering consultants.
- Implements project design documents (i.e. design summary documents, equipment, material and services specifications, calculations and drawings) prepared by internal and external engineering consultants for compliance to Air Liquide Design Engineering Guides and Standards, standard utility practices, contract requirements and accurate inclusion of project scope details.
- Provides technical input and documentation to Project Management's requests to obtain services from external engineering consultants.
- Confers with planners, E&C Service engineers, customers, and other Air Liquide functional groups to ensure that project execution activities are customer focused, results orientated and performance driven.
- Participates as a member in project teams to advise the project manager on electrical installation issues.
- Provide electrical and instrument support to capital and service projects
- Perform and approve all electrical equipment and controls systems during FAT and SAT testing by vendors.
- Participate in hazard and Management of Change reviews/approvals, PSSRs, SOP development and training
- Review and check all assigned project electrical installation drawings (one-line diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, details, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc. for compliance with all company and project instructions.
- Provide weekly field progress and safety reports
- Contribute to job planning, estimating, cost/benefit analysis of proposed solutions, and provide technical evaluation of bids
LI OPS Support
- Responsible for the operations and maintenance support of electrical power distribution systems, including high voltage substations, transformers, switchgear, motors, motor control centers, lighting, grounding, electrical wiring, and hazardous area classification.
- Assist with engineering studies and investigations and assists with preparing oral and written reports.
- Provide electrical assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Participate in improving the electrical safety program for Air Liquide.
- Attend conferences and seminars as appropriate to share ideas and issues with other industry protection engineers, keep abreast of the latest developments, advance the state of protective relaying, and promote the interests of Air Liquide.
- Assist in qualifying vendor repair facilities
- Take the lead in training, coaching, and mentoring field technicians and operations staff in the preventative maintenance and operation of electrical distribution and control systems.
- Provide technical support to the field regarding the trouble shooting, inspection, and repair of large synchronous motors. Act as a liaison between customer sites and when needed, get involved with hands on inspection, overhaul and repair of electrical apparatus.
- As Operations Representative, participate in the acceptance and operations phases of new Projects
- Ensure that operational concerns are addressed prior to commissioning so that the final plant can be operated safely and efficiently.
Accountabilities:
- 100% compliance with ALA safety and environmental standards
- Assigned small projects and action items
- You will be expected to review and check all assigned project electrical installation drawings (one-line diagrams, electrical equipment location drawings, plan drawings, details, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.) for compliance with all company and project instructions. Provide redlined drawings for project completion.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of medium/high voltage motors and distribution systems
- Must have thorough working knowledge of all aspects of electrical and instrument application and design as related to industrial application in accordance with industry standards; e.g., ISA, IEC, NEC, etc.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in the use of Microsoft office application
- Ability to interpret and understand P&IDs, to gather information for power calculations and studies for large and small plants, to redline electrical one lines
- Minimum of 10-15 years successful technical support experience in an Industrial operating environment or in an engineering and construction environment
- High school diploma
- Two year technical school diploma (preferred)
- Must be able to wear personal safety equipment, including hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, flame resistant clothing, respirator, etc.
- Able to travel about 50% of the time
- Able to visit and work in industrial environments which will include walking & moderate climbing on gradients, stairwells and uneven surfaces.
- Technical knowledge of operation of ASU, Cogen, and/or Hydrogen.
- Trained in OSHA
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior industrial gas experience.
