The Senior Resources Center is seeking a Foster Grandparent Program Coordinator to recruit and place senior volunteers, age 55+, to mentor at-risk children in the public school system or at after-school programs in New Hanover County; train volunteers; ensure grant compliance with program regulations; meet program goals; monitor and administer budget; and collect data for reporting and evaluation requirements. Duties include promoting program services and providing pre-and-post service and ongoing training covering a wide variety of topics to help understand the needs and the ways of working with high risk and special needs children. The position collaborates with agencies to pair older adults to meet the needs of the children served; collects and reports data to local and federal agencies; and writes varied reports. The successful candidate will need strong skills in working with older adults, leadership, writing, computer programs, budgeting, and public relations. Sound professional judgment and initiative are required to perform work. The Foster Grandparent Program is a grant funded position through AmeriCorps Seniors and sponsored by New Hanover County. The current multiyear grant award is through June 2028. Work is performed under the supervision of the Human Services Program Manager for volunteer and community engagement services. Hiring/selection process includes a criminal background check, federal fingerprint criminal history check, and pre-employment drug screening. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, screen, train, support, and retain Foster Grandparent volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer placements in schools and community-based programs to meet the needs of children served.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies.
- Plan and deliver orientation, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities for volunteers.
- Monitor volunteer performance and provide guidance, coaching, problem resolution, and recognition.
- Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors, grant, and program requirements, including volunteer eligibility, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and program data; prepare local, state, and federal reports.
- Assist with grant administration, budgeting, stipend processing, financial monitoring, and program evaluation.
- Promote the program through outreach activities, presentations, marketing initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
- Develop and maintain volunteer resources, including manuals, training materials, and memorandums of understanding with partner agencies.
- Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong leadership, communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with older adults, children, educators, and community partners.
- Experience with volunteer management, training, program administration, and grant compliance.
- Strong organizational, data management, budgeting, and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of child development and the needs of children facing academic, social, behavioral, or developmental challenges is preferred.

Hours:
Expected hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday; however, must be available
to report for emergency work assignments during emergency situations.
Salary Information:
The
hiring
range
for this position is
$46,360.00 $62,585.50
plus a competitive benefits package.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the area of assignment and two years of professional related program experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
