The department coordinates event planning, operations, and customer service. Departmental responsibilities include event logistics, venue coordination, and on site operations management.
Job Description
The manager of operations for the Events and Hospitality Management department oversees all aspects of strategic and operational planning in relation to Missouri S&T's arrival district including Havener Center, Innovation Lab and Welcome Center building operations, event logistics, student staff, department budget, and policies and procedures pertaining to event guidelines. The manager of operations provides expertise in the development and implementation of department strategies to enhance and expand event venue usage. Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate events and operations to ensure compliance with university standards related to facility usage, vendor agreements, facility use agreements, and University contracts.
- Contributes to problem-solving related to unforeseen issues concerning events and guests within facilities
- Provide overall management of event set-up and facility scheduling.
- Responsible for strategic planning and analytics of physical space.
- Responsible for the hiring, and training of administrative staff and 20+ student staff
- Serve as on-site event coordinator for university and community events, assist with customer needs, troubleshoot technical and operational issues, and perform complex tasks to ensure smooth execution.
- Works closely with the custodial team, campus police, physical facilities, and public safety officials to ensure the safety of the Arrival District include the Havener Center, Innovation Lab and Welcome Center.
- Track and compile information and data in conjunction with monthly, mid-year, and yearly reports.
- Provide recommendations to the Director of Events and Hospitality regarding usage fees.
- Participate in the development of programs, departmental objectives and long-range planning, by performing research, providing recommendations, and implementing plans as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in event coordination, fiscal operations, or administrative support, preferably in a higher education environment
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality management or related field
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976-$59,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
