GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To determine and implement electrical designs that meet cost and schedule objectives and customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Reviews customer requirements including customer specifications, Statements of Work, and interface drawings in order to ensure compliance with contract.
  • Attends job kick-off meetings and participates in design reviews with customers.
  • Support the preparation and update task lists and schedules.
  • Works to plan schedules and budgets on assigned programs.
  • Designs AC & DC electrical systems from customer specifications.
  • Develop system layouts, subassembly configurations and packaging criteria.
  • Prepares wiring diagrams, schematics, and wire lists.
  • Provides design input to mechanical engineers and CAD design team.
  • Reviews and approves drawings.
  • Supports production of prototype and electrical system build.
  • Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues.
  • Creates technical proposals, technical materials, procurement specifications and electrical analyses.
  • Supports the Sales department in proposal development and engineering estimates.
  • Reviews vendor/shop drawings, quotes, and proposals.
  • Creates electrical long leads and Cost Schedule Impact Logs (CSILis.)
  • Submits Engineering Change Proposals (ECPis, RFWis, etc.).
  • Interfaces with customers, program management, and contracts to resolve customer issues.
  • Contributes to product improvement, new product development and product standardization.
  • Failure analysis with clear problem interpretation and robust solution proposals.
  • Provides risk assessment and mitigation for electrical design engineering tasks.
  • Support company and customer test development and validation.
  • Support Electromagnetic shielding and filtering.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Experience:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:



  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Thorough knowledge of circuit simulation programs.
  • Thorough understanding of the relationship between hardware and software for company products.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • 2+ years of professional engineering experience required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Office environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Travel up to 10%.
