Our client is a leader in the defense and aerospace industry located in Columbia, MD that designs, manufactures, and supports aerostat systems used for military, border security, maritime surveillance, communications, and intelligence missions
The successful candidate will have at least a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and should have mechanical packaging design experience working with electrical and electronic assemblies, preferably for the aviation industry. Title: Mechanical Packaging Engineer Location: On-site Columbia, MD Salary: 40.00 - 60.00 per hour / (80,000-120,000) contract to potential direct hire The individual will be responsible for the design of lightweight electrical assemblies in space restricted enclosures for use in avionics applications where the assemblies are exposed to the atmosphere and operate in high EMI environments. Performing analysis on designs, to include structural and thermal testing. Work with the electrical engineering designers to define the mechanical design requirements and will develop the packaging design concepts and layouts for detailed drawing development. Work with manufacturing to ensure designs adhere to company manufacturing standards and capabilities. Occasional travel to North Carolina facility may be required. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Ability to create production level engineering documentation for a manufacturing environment Ability to integrate and support in manufacturing environment for 1st article builds Excellent oral, written and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management and customers as well as mentoring of other engineers. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
