Summary
Responsible for advanced clinical and administrative responsibilities within Clinical Nutrition, in addition to managing the comprehensive medical nutritional care of patients. This includes conducting nutrition assessments, developing nutrition care plans, implementing diet modifications, providing nutrition education, and supporting all activities related to the nutritional needs of the patient population.
Essential Functions
-Provides advanced clinical dietitian responsibilities, which may include supporting specialty or advanced patient populations, participating in clinical care forums as a nutrition resource, mentoring new staff, and evaluating new products and services.
-Collaborates with the leadership team on program planning and initiatives designed to enhance processes, improve efficiency, and support departmental goals. Plans, conducts, supervises, and evaluates educational experiences for dietetic interns and students.
-Based on multiple criteria, including assessment of nutritional needs, physician orders, clinical data, interdisciplinary healthcare plans, and standards of quality nutritional care, develops and implements individualized nutrition plans of care that appropriately address the age, psychosocial, and physical needs of patients.
-Documents all nutrition-related information, including assessments, nutrition therapy recommendations, care plans, follow-up data and changes, diet consultation results, discharge planning, daily clinical activities, and other related orders and pertinent information.
-Counsels and educates patients and families on prescribed therapeutic diets and develops educational resources and materials to support patient care and understanding.
-Partners with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support are provided appropriately; reviews patient menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Clinical Dietitian required or

Master's Degree Dietitian preferred

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials

Dietitian and Nutritionist [State License] required

Registered Dietitian [RD] required

Registered Dietitican Nutritionist [RDN] preferred

Experience

Clinical Dietitian experience with multiple patient populations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good communication skills.

Ability to effectively evaluate and problem solve.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to guide, teach, and motivate all patient age populations.
