Purpose
The Learning & Development Specialist supports the design, coordination, and delivery of enterprise-wide learning programs across the Teichert Family of Companies. Reporting to the Workforce Development Manager, this role is the operational backbone of the L&D function ensuring programs run smoothly, participants are engaged, and data is tracked and reported accurately. The L & D Specialist executes established program frameworks and serves as a reliable point of contact for learners, facilitators, and internal stakeholders across Teichert University and Workforce Development initiatives while contributing to the groundwork for future leadership and workforce programs.

Focus & Scope
Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
  1. Coordinates scheduling, logistics, room or virtual setup, materials, and communications for all L&D programs and training events across the enterprise.
  2. Manages participant enrollment, attendance tracking, and completion records across all L&D programs; serves as the primary point of contact for learners, facilitators, and subject matter experts on logistical matters, escalating issues to the Manager as directed.
  3. Administers and maintains the LMS (Learning Management System) including course setup, enrollment management, completion tracking, and participant reporting; liaises with internal facilitators and external vendors to ensure session readiness and materials are current and version controlled.
  4. Supports scheduling and coordination of Teichert University cohorts including project management development programs and role-specific curricula; tracks certification completions and generates reports on learning progress for HR and business leadership.
  5. Coordinates the Mentor Program including mentor-mentee matching, onboarding of participants, program communication cadences (kick-off, mid-point, and close), pulse surveys, and engagement tracking throughout program cycles.
  6. Schedules and coordinates workforce and leadership development training cohorts in alignment with business unit priorities; tracks participant progress, program milestones, and skill development outcomes; assists with coordination of external training providers or community partnerships as applicable.
  7. Creates and updates training materials, presentations, job aids, and learner guides using tools such as PowerPoint, Canva, or similar platforms; assists the Workforce Development Manager with e-learning module updates or basic course builds as needed.
  8. Generates and distributes regular reports on training participation, completion rates, and learner satisfaction scores; maintains accurate records in the LMS and supplementary tracking systems; supports preparation of L&D dashboards and executive updates.
  9. Processes purchase orders, invoices, and expense tracking for workforce development programs; assists with budget monitoring and vendor coordination including scheduling, contract logistics, and invoice processing.
  10. Assists with research, benchmarking, and vendor outreach to support development of a future leadership development program; contributes to pilot planning and logistics as the program takes shape.
  11. Facilitates and co-facilitates program sessions, cohort orientations, and kickoff events as assigned; delivers content on Teichert culture, values, and leadership competencies to mixed audiences including new hires, program participants, and internal stakeholders.
  12. Provides general administrative support to workforce and leadership development functions including managing calendars, preparing materials, and assisting with special projects and HR initiatives under the direction of the Workforce Development Manager.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Experience & Industry Expertise:
  • 1-3 years of experience in a training, learning & development, HR, or program coordination role.
  • Experience with an LMS platform (e.g., UKG Learning, Cornerstone, Workday Learning, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the construction, heavy civil, or industrial industry preferred
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Current on all company required safety training.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with SharePoint preferred.
  • Ability to prepare clear, professional written materials including program summaries, participant communications, tracking reports, and learning resource documents.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; able to engage professionally with employees at all levels, from new hires to executive leadership.
  • Comfortable facilitating and presenting to groups of varying sizes and backgrounds; ability to deliver content clearly and engagingly in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams and establishing positive working relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Solid organizational and coordination skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, competing deadlines, and shifting priorities.
  • Occasional travel to construction sites, field locations, off-site events, and community partner locations may be required.

Equipment Used, Physical Demands, and Work Environment
Equipment Used:
  • Equipment Used: General office equipment, telephone, automobile, personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection) when visiting plants.
Physical Demands & Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time working on the computer or attending meetings. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, steep slopes, and exposure to extreme temperature and/or humidity. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Demands of meeting tight deadlines. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.

BASE SALARY RANGE:
$79,167 - $110,833
The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonable expects to pay for the position. The actual base salary is subject to variation due to the role, level, geographic location, relevant education, training, or experience, among other factors.
