International Trade & Regulatory Compliance Staff Attorney - Customs and Import Compliance
Steptoe LLP is seeking a Staff Attorney to join the Firm's International Trade and Regulatory Compliance group to work on Customs and Import Compliance matters in our Washington, DC office.

The Staff Attorney will assist with customs and import compliance matters under the supervision of partners and counsel in the Firm's International Trade and Regulatory Compliance practice group.

Prior work experience with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and import/export compliance issues and procedures is preferred, including experience:

(1) at U.S. Customs and Border Protection;
(2) in an internal corporate import/export compliance office;
(3) at a law firm with significant responsibility for import/export regulatory compliance issues; or
(4) with a customs brokerage.

Candidates should have strong academic credentials and excellent writing and analytical skills; foreign language skills are a plus.

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required. Membership in the District of Columbia bar, active and in good standing, is also required.

Steptoe offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a collegial working environment that provides training and mentorship. The anticipated salary range for this position is $135,000 to $170,000. The actual base salary offered will depend upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, certifications, or other professional licenses held.
