The pay range for this position is $31.65-$49.45 based on direct and relevant experience.

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a Mammography Patient Navigator to join our team. As a Mammography Patient Navigator, you will be responsible for collaborating closely with patients, radiologists, referring offices (surgeons, providers, etc.), other technologists, and administrative team members to ensure a seamless and compassionate patient experience. This role also provides clinical administrative support to the breast care program to both patients and radiologists. This is a full-time position working 8:00am-4:30pm and 8:30am-5:00pm shifts, no weekends, occasional travel to other breast care locations in the Twin Cities. This position is also available working parttime 30-39 hours in a 0.8 or 0.9 FTE status.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

(40%) Patient Care



  1. Acts as a liaison between patients and providers
  2. Assists provider or technologist in the room as needed
  3. Ensure provider has patients' health history by entering patient past medical information and orders into RIS and obtaining previous medical records
  4. Communicate directly with the provider regarding patient medications and possible contraindications
  5. Clearly and confidently explain procedures and treatments to the patient to gain understanding and cooperation to help alleviate apprehension
  6. Post procedure monitoring of patients; records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or provider of patient's condition and reaction to treatment, documents as appropriate in the patient's chart
  7. Initiate a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by provider and/or clinic policy
  8. Educate patients regarding breast imaging procedures, biopsy preparation, pathology results, treatment options, and follow-up recommendations.
  9. Ensure patient care plans are documented and carried out according to the facility's standards
  10. Assist providers with follow-up on care plans for patients
  11. Schedule biopsy patients and calls them the next day for follow up


(35%) Clinical Patient Support



  1. Greet patients and escorts them to the exam room
  2. Documents all patient prep calls in the appropriate Information System
  3. Calls or faxes in prescriptions as needed
  4. Calls patients with mammography and other breast care related results
  5. Returns patient phone calls with follow up as appropriate
  6. Track abnormal findings and ensure appropriate follow-up according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  7. Schedule follow-up appointments for patients
  8. Discharge the patient from the clinic with appropriate information and documentation
  9. Assembles next day's History and Physical Examination paperwork for assigned locations
  10. Monitors the clinic schedule and coordinates patient flow with scheduling and front office to manage and schedule add-ons and follow-up appointments
  11. Assists with cleaning the exam room, following proper cleanliness, and safety techniques


(20%) Administrative and Technical Support



  1. Manage daily breast care schedules for efficient workflows
  2. Prepare patient letters, including daily printing, proofing, folding and mailing
  3. Handle imaging films and CDs coming in and out of the department
  4. Manage electronic medical records (EMR) dashboard for patient workflow, pending patients, and appropriate follow-up
  5. Enter biopsy results and patient orders in EMR for diagnostic follow-up patients
  6. Manage prior imaging process for scheduled patients
  7. Partner with clinical team on risk assessments
  8. Assist Lead/Operations Manager in managing Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) credentials
  9. Assist Lead/Operations Manager in managing Mammography ACR credentials


(5%) Performs other Duties and Projects as assigned

Required:



  1. High School diploma, or equivalent
  2. Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  3. ARRT registered technologist, current and in good standing
  4. Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  5. Three (3) years' hands on mammography experience
  6. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  7. Certification in imaging specialty
  8. Must have continuing CEU's in modality as required by MQSA or state specific
  9. Must have sufficient training and experience to competently perform mammography procedures independently
