Job Description:

The Comprehensive Early Intervening Services (CEIS) Interventionist (12m) will work directly with students and school based teams to provide general education tier III academic and/or behavioral interventions. The CEIS Intervention Specialist is a member of a multi-disciplinary team working to reduce the disproportionality of students referred for special education services. The CEIS Intervention Specialist brings a unique perspective to the team specifically as it relates to provision of interventions within the general education classroom. This is a 12-month, 240 day Licensed position, reporting to the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction.

Qualifications:



  • Education: A Master's Degree from an Accredited College or University in the Special Education, or a Related Field Required.


  • Certificates & Licenses: A Valid Virginia Department of Education Postgraduate Professional license with an endorsement in General Education; Special Education; School Counseling; School Social Work or School Psychology. Endorsement in Administration and Supervision and/or BCBA Certification are just perferred.


  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience as a Teacher, Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist, Administrator or Coordinator.

  • Extensive knowledge and skills in behavioral strategies and evidence based interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in academic strategies and evidence based interventions for children and adolescents.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills in application of evidence-based strategies to enhance social skill development and emotion regulation within the school setting.



Essential Functions:



  • Works directly with students to provide preventative strategies and interventions related to emotional and behavioral challenges and/or academic deficits;
  • Provides ongoing support to school teams to resolve student behavioral challenges;
  • Supports staff in the development and collection of data for MTSS plans; .
  • Supports staff in interpreting the data to make recommendations on identified areas of need;.
  • Assists and supports building and division staff and parents in the development, implementation and monitoring of MTSS functional behavior assessments (FBA) and student support plans (SSP);
  • Effectively communicates and maintains collaborative relationships with all stakeholders involved on a school-based team;
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level; and
  • Collects and reviews student specific CEIS data for state and division reporting of outcomes.



Compensation:



  • Step Placement and Salary for this position is determined by The ACPS Teachers and Other Licensed Staff Salary Scale


  • Exempt position status - This position is classified as exempt, meaning it is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.



Clearances:



  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.
  • Public Health Compliance - Must follow safety and health protocols.
