Position Summary: The Assistant Resident Care Director position, in addition to assisting residents with the self-administration of medications as ordered by the primary physician, (under the direction and supervision of the Resident Care Director, Memory Care Director or Executive Director), is to assist the Resident Care Director with administrative and clinical tasks, scheduling, training team members, and resolve resident/family/employee concerns. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established residential care standards, policies, procedures and practices of this community and required by RCFE rules and regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists with updating white board with current resident information.
- Review new orders in Electronic Health Record.
- Review UKG Dimensions timecard exceptions.
- Review next 3 shifts for appropriate coverage.
- Prior to weekend, review schedule and make sure all shifts are covered.
- Complete and post employee schedules 2 weeks prior to the first of the next month.
- Review staffs call-offs from month and provide report to Resident Care Director or Memory Care Director.
- Complete medication destruction with Resident Medication Assistant, Executive Director or another licensed nurse and prepare for pick-up.
- Send physician orders to MDs for review and signature (every 3 months for review; prepare a schedule and a portion of the community each month until all orders have been sent every quarter).
- Update Resident Functional Evaluations including Elopement Risk.
- Thin resident record as needed
- Audit/Monitor Documentation including Medication Administration Records and medication storage (med cart).
- Assigning duties to specific employees based on role and skills.
- Adhering to company policies and health, safety and Eskaton standards.
- Provides companion care, which can include reading, visiting, answering personal correspondence, assisting with bill paying or other tasks as listed on resident's plan of care.
- Provides or assists in bathing or showering for thorough cleanliness and hygiene of resident.
- Makes beds, straightens rooms and keeps resident care area in an organized manner.
- Assists residents in dressing when needed and demonstrates concern for individual privacy while providing resident care.
- Can be responsible for preparing light meals at the direction of the resident when noted on resident's plan of care.
- Assists residents to schedule medical appointments or other vital services as indicated by the resident's plan of care. May accompany resident to appointments at the direction of the Resident Care Director, Memory Care Director or Executive Director.
- Promotes appropriate levels of independence in resident care and demonstrates awareness of safety for both resident and self in providing care.
- Assists resident with simple range of motion or other exercises as directed by nurse or therapist and ambulates resident according to his/her endurance levels. When directed by the plan of care, assists resident to site fitness program or individual planned events.
- Applies medical or adaptive devices as ordered by the appropriate physician, physician extender, or supervising nurse.
- Assists residents with self-administration of medications after successful completion of required medication training.
- Collects specimens as directed by the Resident Care Director or Memory Care Director.
- May deliver meal trays from Dining Room or assist resident to the Dining Room.
- Assists residents with personal laundry including any dry cleaning.
- Follows prescribed Eskaton emergency protocol and policies.
- Completes weights and vital signs for each resident as noted on plan of care.
- Provides respite services for spouses, and or other family members.
- Assists with activities, including participating and/or leading activities per Activity Director and Resident Care Director or Memory Care Director instructions.

Starting pay ranges from $30.30 per hour - $37.00 per hour. Factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations may influence base pay.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred. Proficient ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language.
Training and Experience:
Six (6) months' experience in providing personal care in an RCFE or other long-term care setting preferred. Valid/current first aid certification.
Job Knowledge:
Knowledge in performing personal care services in a residential environment. Ability to meet new and/or stressful situations with the appropriate responses. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, to share information freely, to use and seek supervision and consultation verbally and in writing, and be able to follow both verbal and written instructions. Comfortable working with pets of various sizes.
