Role: Tax Analyst (Consultant)
Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite)
Compensation: $80-$100/hour

Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Analyst to support a broad range of tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and tax accounting activities. This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple tax disciplines while partnering with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, and external tax advisors in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Regulatory Support
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of regulatory filings and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data needed for regulatory submissions and tax reporting.
  • Support remediation efforts related to historical compliance and reporting matters.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Extract, reconcile, and analyze data from ERP and operational systems.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external tax advisors.
  • Assist with federal, state, provincial, and indirect tax compliance requirements.
  • Support sales and use tax, income tax, and transfer pricing-related activities.
  • Review tax data for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
Tax Accounting & Operations
  • Review tax returns and related work product prepared by external advisors.
  • Coordinate tax payments and filing deadlines with Treasury and Accounts Payable teams.
  • Assist with tax journal entries, account reconciliations, and tax-related accounting processes.
  • Support quarterly and annual tax provision activities, including ASC 740-related requirements.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams to provide information for tax reporting and compliance initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve controls within the tax function.
Qualifications
  • 3-6+ years of tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of both.
  • Experience supporting tax compliance and reporting processes.
  • Exposure to regulatory filings and compliance-related activities.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxation.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a lean, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Telecommunications industry tax or regulatory filing experience.
  • Sales and use tax compliance experience.
  • Exposure to both U.S. and Canadian tax matters.
  • Transfer pricing support experience.
  • ASC 740 tax provision exposure.
  • Experience reviewing tax returns prepared by external accounting firms.
  • Prior experience within smaller organizations where tax professionals are responsible for multiple areas of the tax function.
Systems
  • Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, reporting, and data analysis)
  • Oracle ERP (preferred)
  • Vertex (nice to have)

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical tax knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a hands-on approach to managing tax processes. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently, navigate complex datasets, and support tax activities from data gathering through compliance, review, reporting, and payment coordination.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
