Description

This position is responsible for the transportation of patients to and from appointments at the SIU Center for Family Medicine.

*This position is ON SITE only*


Examples of Duties

TRANSPORTATION / VEHICLE MAINTENANCE 90%
1. Prepares daily transportation schedule based on patient needs by site, dispatching vehicles or
drivers, and routing service calls
2. Generates trip sheets for each trip and prepares quarterly reports on total trips, mileage and
vehicle maintenance.
3. Ensures vehicle gets regularly scheduled mainentance, maintaining records, logs and receipts.
4. Backup driver for all sites
5. Train Drivers and Heavy Drivers
6. Assist in supervision with Drivers at each site
FOOD DISTRIBUTION 10%
1. Pick up of orders done at local businesses and food pantries.
2. Deliver items and food bags to patients as needed.
3. Record distribution activity daily.


Qualifications

Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid current driver's license as required by the State of Illinois; and a CDL class B license or higher in accordance with the size of the vehicle to be operated by the incumbent.
Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience in moving or transport activities (such as commercial driving, dispatching, garage work, or moving company).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)

  1. Knowledge of safe driving procedures.
  2. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  3. Ability to supervise.
  4. Ability to perform clerical functions, including record keeping and mathematical skills.
  5. Ability to safely perform heavy lifting (50 lbs. minimum), pushing, and pulling.
  6. Ability to learn about the institution's buildings, travel routes, and physical layout.
  7. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  8. Ability to interact with the public

Condition of Employment

Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
