SENIOR ADVOCACY COORDINATOR

What you'll do.

The Senior Advocacy Coordinator plays an important role in advancing the advocacy team's work by providing operational and logistical support for in-district, state, and regional initiatives. This position also helps implement strategies that strengthen advocate capacity and expand overall impact. Working closely with internal partners across marketing, meetings services, facilities, and digital teams-as well as external vendors when needed-this role helps ensure advocacy efforts are coordinated, effective, and well executed.

What we look for.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Administration, Communications, Political Science or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year's administrative, professional, or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the AAN's values
  • Demonstrated proficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar software
  • Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheet software applications to enter, compile, analyze, and retrieve data in a variety of reports
  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to deliver when facing multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and recordkeeping
  • Ability to work with general supervision as well as actively contribute to project teams
  • Superior customer service skills through verbal and electronic correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal
  • and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization
  • Project coordination or meeting management experience is preferred
  • Experience in advocacy, policy or civic engagement is preferred
  • Anticipates needed actions; plans and follows through with work activities; dependable and focused on getting things done to achieve goals is preferred

Relevant education and/or experience exceeding the required qualifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required - up to 5%

Location: Washington DC and is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office with the ability to work remotely part of the week)

Schedule: Occasional evening and weekend required
