SUMMARY:
Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through proactive security patrols and enforcement of hospital policies.
Monitor assigned areas for safety hazards, suspicious activity, and unusual occurrences, reporting incidents promptly and accurately.
Investigate complaints, security incidents, and potential criminal activity while documenting findings.
Respond to emergencies and provide protective services throughout the hospital campus.
Assist with safely restraining disruptive or combative patients when necessary, following hospital procedures.
Deliver professional, customer-focused service while interacting with patients, visitors, employees, and law enforcement.
Enforce hospital security regulations and access control procedures to protect people and property.
If authorized, apprehend and arrest criminal suspects under State Special Police authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned hospital areas to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and property.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, unsecured areas, and suspicious activity to prevent theft, injury, and property damage.
  • Enforce hospital security policies and maintain strict confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Investigate incidents involving theft, misconduct, complaints, and other security concerns through interviews and evidence collection.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary and detain or arrest suspects when authorized under State Special Police authority.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports, maintain accurate security logs, and keep supervisors informed of significant events.
  • Safeguard valuables, property, and evidence while maintaining proper chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Operate integrated security systems and perform dispatch duties, including monitoring alarms, coordinating emergency responses, and documenting activities.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist clinical staff with patient restraints when authorized.
  • Provide assistance to workplace violence and domestic violence victims while ensuring their safety.
  • Manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic during routine operations, emergencies, and special events.
  • Provide protective services for dignitaries, staff, patients, and visitors as required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional, calm, and security-focused presence.
  • Participate in departmental committees, task forces, and team initiatives to improve hospital safety and security operations.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice preferred.
  • Experience cannot be substituted for the required education.
Licenses
  • Valid Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License.
Preferred Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Hospital security
    • Law enforcement or police
    • Emergency medical services (EMS)
    • Customer service
