Overview
This position also includes community outreach: tutors will work with community groups at the Brigham City campus on collaborative writing projects (e.g., grant applications and oral histories) and coordinate with faculty members on recruitment initiatives at local high schools, which may include classroom visits and presentations.

Responsibilities
Writing Center tutors work one-on-one with students across the disciplines on various aspects of writing projects from brainstorming to composing to editing and documenting sources. Tutors will work with students from a variety of backgrounds and levels of writing proficiency. In addition to in-person and Zoom consultations at the Brigham City Writing Center, the tutor will also be available to help campus students with in-class writing and research assignments. They will help students in the region and throughout the statewide system.

Qualifications
  • Tutors must be excellent writers who have an understanding of the writing process and a strong foundation of grammatical and documentation skills.
  • They should be welcoming and possess excellent communication skills and patience.
  • They should have the ability to work independently with little oversight.
  • They should have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and desktop computing.
  • Applicants with a strong, proven background in English and/or experience with ESL in any capacity will be offered preferential consideration for the position.
