Duties and Responsibilities	The Registered Dietitian develops, delivers, coordinates and evaluates nutrition services and programs as part of the school-based health center ( SBHC) operated by Loyola University Chicago ( LUC) at Proviso East High School. I. Position Responsibilities: \| No. \| % Time \| Essential Duty \| Job Duties 1. 35% \| Yes \| Nutrition Education and Health Promotion Develop, implement, and evaluate individual and group nutrition education programs that support child and adolescent health. Deliver educational programming through initiatives such as Lunch Bunch, classroom presentations, athletic team education, health fairs, parent and stakeholder outreach, weight management programs, and other special population groups. Coordinate nutrition-related programming and resources in collaboration with School-Based Health Center (SBHC) director, staff, and community partners. 2. 35% \| Yes \| Clinical Nutrition Services Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) by conducting nutrition assessments, establishing nutrition diagnoses, developing and implementing nutrition care plans, and nutrition education, and counseling for adolescents and families. Manage a variety of nutrition-related conditions including, but not limited to, weight management, dyslipidemia, pregnancy, and other child and adolescent health concerns. Refer clients and families to appropriate healthcare, behavioral health, and community resources as needed. 3. 10% \| Yes \| Student Supervision and Professional Development Provide supervision, mentoring, and educational experiences for dietetic interns, nursing students, and other trainees as assigned. Support workforce development through modeling professional, ethical, and evidence-based practice. 4. 10% \| Yes \| Program Evaluation, Quality Improvement, and Resource Development Participate in program evaluation, quality improvement activities, data collection, and outcomes assessment. Develop educational materials and identify, obtain, and manage resources that enhance program effectiveness and service delivery. 5. 5% \| Yes \| Grant and Project Support Assist with grant development, reporting, research-related activities, data management, evaluation efforts, and regulatory submissions (e.g., IRB applications) that support SBHC nutrition programs and initiatives. 6. 5% \| Yes \| Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Community Engagement Collaborate with SBHC providers, school personnel, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support health promotion initiatives and improve access to nutrition services. Participate in community partnerships, outreach activities, and collaborative projects that advance the mission of the SBHC. Additional Responsibilities Practice in accordance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards governing dietetic practice. Perform duties independently while exercising professional judgment and collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Provide culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate care to a diverse adolescent population and their families. Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice related to adolescent health, pregnancy, infant nutrition, and child health. Position Requirements Minimum Education: Required: Bachelor's degree Specify Degree(s): Must have completed a post-baccalaureate ACEND accredited program with a minimum of 1,000 hours or supervised practice/supervised experiential learning. Residency: N/A Preferred: Master's degree in human nutrition, foods and nutrition, dietetics, public health, food systems management, or an equivalent course of study (including MBA, MEd and other relevant degrees). Licensure/Certifications: Required: Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation; or expected within 3 months of hire. Preferred: Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Basic Life Support ( BLS) certified (American Heart Association) Required Computer Skills: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Required Skills: Ability to communicate verbally Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work as an effective team member Preferred Skills: Ability to effectively converse with Spanish-speaking clients (Spanish language proficiency) Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) Other: Working knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations. Flexible in work schedule to include some evenings, weekends and holidays in order to meet program/customer needs. Personal Relationships: This is a skilled job requiring high level of adaptability and interpersonal skills; especially ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of levels of personnel and clients including minority adolescents, SBHC health care team, LUC students, and PEHS teachers in a respectful and professional manner. Internal Contacts: SBHC staff, LUC faculty and students. External Contacts: High school students and their families, teachers, administrators, athletic coaches, community members, and other stakeholder groups including advisory groups, etc.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience	Bachelor's degree in nutrition/dietetics, completion of a clinical internship approved by American Dietetic Association and one-two years of professional experience. Master's degree is preferred.
