The Counseling Services Team, also called Roo Wellness, provides a full range of psychological, crisis and risk consultation, substance abuse prevention, and outreach initiatives to our campus community. The office also serves as a nationally accredited training program through the American Psychological Association, providing training for doctoral interns in the field of counseling and clinical psychology

The Care Manager will provide a range of mental health services including individual and group therapy, as well as on-call crisis intervention. The primary focus of a Care Manager is to provide significant clinical service to address the needs of students in crisis including crisis intervention, case management, and referral support. Responsible for identifying and coordinating all available and relevant University and community resources during these times of crisis. This position will conduct initial diagnostic clinical interviews and prescribe further diagnostic procedures or treatment programs. Maintain complete, accurate and timely records of all clinical work and any other necessary documentation. Provide outreach and consultation to the campus community and act as an expert regarding community resources. Duties Include:

• Responsible for providing assessment, crisis intervention, brief treatment, and support to students in crisis and in need of care management services. The staff member will carry a clinical caseload of care management track clients. In addition, this staff member will assist with facilitating psychiatric hospitalizations and coordinate post-hospitalization follow-up care.
  • Corollary to this, responsible for coordinating with Protocall's "HelpNow" 24/7 crisis care service that provides immediate behavioral health support to students.
• Responsible for networking and consulting with counseling staff therapists, psychiatric providers, medical providers, campus partners (including but not limited to the Campus Assessment Response and Education (CARE) team, UMKC police, Residence Hall staff, other support services on campus, and other campus student, faculty and staff), local hospitals, and community practitioners and agencies, all in an effort to best manage, coordinate care, and expand resource options for students. This staff member will maintain liaisons with these entities and be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date referral resource information and database. Coordinate with Counseling Services' therapists, Student Health providers, as well as receiving therapists or practitioners, to facilitate and assure as seamless a transition as possible in cases where the student's needs dictate referral to more intensive service or additional service providers.
• Provide outreach and consultation to the campus community around: mental health services available to students experiencing urgent concerns, identifying students in distress. Be knowledgeable about other relevant mental health topics and services available in which to refer students.
• Participate in departmental staff meetings, clinical case conferences, and other staff functions (i.e., staff retreats, individual staff consultations, and professional development activities).

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the state of Missouri.

Active full licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor and ability to obtain licensure in the State of Missouri within six months of being hired is preferred.

Recent graduates who have passed their profession's licensure exam and are actively accruing supervised clinical hours may be considered.

Two years of relevant experience related to crisis case management.

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $73,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
