Job Summary

As a Quality Problem Solving Engineeryou will drive quality improvement, root cause analysis, and problem-solving excellence across its manufacturing network. This role is responsible for rapidly assessing issues and determining the appropriate level of response-whether through practical, rapid problem-solving methods or more structured Red X investigations for complex and recurring issues.

The successful candidate will be a self-driven, logical thinker who thrives in a manufacturing environment and can facilitate cross-functional teams toward practical, sustainable solutions. They will possess a strong understanding of Lean principles, believe in simplicity over complexity, and focus on identifying true root causes rather than managing symptoms.

This position will be based at one of FXI's manufacturing facilities and requires approximately 50-70% travel to support quality initiatives throughout the company's plant network.

Key Responsibilities




  • Lead Root Cause Investigations by assessing manufacturing, process, product, and customer quality issues and selecting the most effective problem-solving approach.





  • Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions through rapid containment, root cause identification, implementation, validation, and sustainability of solutions.







  • Facilitate Structured Problem-Solving using methodologies such as Red X, 3-Legged 5-Why, and Is / Is Not Analysis to resolve complex and chronic issues.







  • Identify and Reduce Process Variation by applying Shainin Red X principles, BOB/WOW comparisons, and practical experimentation techniques.







  • Analyze Trends and Systemic Issues across multiple facilities to identify recurring problems, business risks, and opportunities for improvement.







  • Lead Read Across Initiatives to standardize lessons learned, prevent issue recurrence, and deploy best practices throughout the manufacturing network.







  • Champion Lean Quality Principles by eliminating waste, simplifying processes, and promoting practical, value-added solutions to quality challenges.







  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to resolve critical issues and drive sustainable improvements.







  • Support Customer Quality Management by leading customer issue investigations, communicating corrective actions, and participating in customer-facing quality discussions and escalations.







  • Develop Organizational Capability by coaching and training plant teams in problem-solving methodologies, root cause analysis, Lean principles, and effective corrective action development.





Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing quality, process engineering, or operations experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Ability to travel 50-70% to support multiple plant locations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred



  • Experience with Shainin Red X methodologies and variation reduction techniques.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience leading plant-to-plant Read Across initiatives.
  • Experience facilitating customer quality issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of A3, 8D, and practical problem-solving methodologies.
  • Lean, ASQ, or related certifications.
