Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Applications Engineer III to join our shared services team.

Primary Responsibilities:

System Architecture & Enterprise Deployment



  • Architect, design, and implement enterprise-class security system infrastructures, integrating access control, video management, intrusion, and other security platforms.
  • Lead large-scale deployments and system commissioning, including database replication, high-availability clusters, API integrations, and multi-site synchronization.
  • Evaluate and approve system designs for technical feasibility, scalability, redundancy, and compliance with cybersecurity and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with customer IT, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, network standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize system configurations, network architectures, and hardware deployments for reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop strategies for system upgrades, migrations, and expansions to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
  • Oversee integration of third-party platforms, advanced analytics, and enterprise IT systems, ensuring interoperability and seamless functionality.
  • Maintain detailed architectural diagrams, deployment plans, and configuration records to support governance, audits, and lifecycle management.


Advanced Technical Support & Escalation



  • Serve as the primary escalation point for advanced/complex technical issues across access control, video, and integrated platforms.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolution for critical incidents, ensuring minimal operational impact and long-term system stability.
  • Develop strategies to prevent recurring issues, including system optimization, architectural adjustments, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate resolution efforts with customer IT, cybersecurity, vendors, and internal engineering teams for seamless incident management.
  • Provide expert guidance on troubleshooting methodologies, advanced diagnostics, and enterprise-level problem resolution.
  • Oversee system upgrades, patches, and firmware updates, ensuring compatibility, performance, and continuity across multi-site deployments.
  • Mentor AE I and II engineers in escalated support cases, sharing expertise and fostering technical growth.


Documentation & Process Governance



  • Drive the development and maintenance of enterprise-level SOPs, commissioning checklists, and configuration templates to ensure consistent, high-quality deployments.
  • Establish and enforce documentation governance standards, ensuring accuracy, version control, and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain detailed architectural diagrams, deployment plans, and configuration records for audits, lifecycle management, and operational continuity.
  • Review and approve documentation produced by AE I and II engineers to ensure completeness, technical accuracy, and adherence to best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and standardize documentation processes, templates, and lifecycle management practices across the engineering team.
  • Ensure all documentation is accessible and understandable for field teams, operations, and customer IT staff to support troubleshooting, training, and system adoption.


Collaboration, Leadership & Mentorship



  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Pre-Sales, Design, Operations, and IT teams on strategic opportunities, technology evaluations, large-scale project planning, and enterprise deployments.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for customer engagements, coordinating directly with IT, cybersecurity, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on architecture, risks, and deployment strategies.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Application Engineers I and II, providing technical guidance, onboarding support, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Lead technical discussions during project reviews, escalations, and design validations to uphold best practices and ensure system reliability.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on complex technical issues, new technologies, certifications, and product testing.
  • Support customer training, technical handoffs, and acceptance testing to ensure smooth adoption and operational readiness.


Technology Strategy & Professional Development



  • Stay current with evolving technologies, software releases, integration frameworks, and manufacturer certifications.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, and methods to enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability.


Basic Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience with enterprise access control and video management systems, including 3+ years in an Applications Engineer or equivalent role.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL, Windows Server clustering, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and networking.
  • Demonstrated success leading large enterprise deployments and integrations.
  • Advanced manufacturer certifications required (LenelS2 Master, Genetec Advanced, Milestone Expert, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Primarily office-based, with occasional field visits as required.
  • May require travel and occasional extended hours to support critical deployments or escalations.
  • May require occasional after-hours support and participation in on-call rotations.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or IT preferred.
