Position Summary The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise automation solutions leveraging the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, and related Microsoft technologies. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, security teams, and compliance leaders to automate business processes, develop AI-powered solutions, integrate enterprise applications, and maintain secure data handling practices within a HIPAA-regulated healthcare environment. Additionally, this role plays a key part in supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and organizational integrations by developing repeatable automation frameworks that accelerate onboarding, migration, identity consolidation, application integration, and Day 1 readiness activities. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in workflow automation, application development, AI agent training, systems integration, API architecture, and healthcare compliance while demonstrating the ability to support complex enterprise transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Microsoft Power Platform Development *Design, develop, deploy, and support enterprise-grade Power Automate workflows. *Build scalable Power Apps solutions including Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps. *Create reusable Power Platform components, templates, and governance standards. *Optimize existing automations to improve performance, maintainability, and reliability. *Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting business-critical automation processes. *Develop automation solutions that eliminate manual processes and improve operational efficiency. AI Agent Development & Copilot Studio *Design, build, and maintain AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio. *Train, configure, and optimize AI agents to support internal business processes and customer interactions. *Implement enterprise data grounding strategies and knowledge integration. *Configure topics, entities, orchestration rules, conversational workflows, and integrations. *Monitor AI agent performance and continuously improve accuracy, adoption, and business outcomes. *Ensure AI solutions comply with HIPAA, security, privacy, and governance requirements. API Design & Systems Integration *Design, develop, document, and manage RESTful APIs and integration services. *Build integrations between Power Platform solutions and enterprise applications including ERP, CRM, HRIS, ITSM, and healthcare systems. *Configure and manage API authentication mechanisms including OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, and service principals. *Develop and maintain custom connectors for Power Platform solutions. *Monitor API performance, security, availability, and usage. *Create scalable integration standards that support future growth and acquisitions. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Integration Support *Partner with enterprise integration teams to support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and TSA (Transition Services Agreement) initiatives. *Develop repeatable automation frameworks that accelerate onboarding of acquired organizations. *Automate Day 1, Day 30, and post-close technology integration activities. *Design solutions for user onboarding, account provisioning, access requests, license assignment, and identity lifecycle management. *Support Microsoft 365 tenant integrations, Entra ID consolidation efforts, and identity migration initiatives. *Build automation solutions that support mailbox migrations, application migrations, SSO transitions, and access governance activities. *Develop Power Apps and Power Automate solutions to track integration milestones, risks, dependencies, and synergy realization initiatives. *Create Copilot Studio agents that assist integration teams with onboarding guidance, process documentation, and knowledge retrieval. *Support data migration validation and reconciliation processes across acquired entities. *Help standardize and automate integration processes to reduce implementation timelines and operational costs. Security, Compliance & Governance *Ensure all automation solutions comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational security requirements. *Apply least-privilege security principles and secure-by-design practices. *Partner with Information Security teams to review and secure automations, APIs, and AI solutions. *Implement governance frameworks for Power Platform environments, connectors, APIs, and AI agents. *Support audit requests, compliance reviews, and risk assessments. *Monitor and document data flows involving PHI and other sensitive business information. Business Partnership & Solution Delivery *Gather and analyze business requirements from internal stakeholders. *Translate business challenges into scalable automation and AI solutions. *Create technical documentation, solution designs, and operational runbooks. *Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and technology evaluations. *Provide end-user training and knowledge transfer activities. *Participate in Agile development and project management processes. *Collaborate with business leaders to identify automation opportunities related to growth, integration, and operational efficiency. Probably duplicitous, but One of TEKsystems' clients, a large organization specializing in in-home healthcare including pharmacy, medical equipment, etc., is looking for a Sr. Automation Engineer to join their team. The company has made a few acquisitions recently and are looking to continue to grow through that M&A business model, and they are building a team to support those efforts. One of those new team members is a Sr. Automation Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for the design and development of business applications using the Microsoft Power Platform. The candidate will be held accountable to determining whether there should be an application to build fully using PowerApps or creating/managing workflows with PowerAutomate. Additionally, the candidate will be designing, building, and managing APIs and automate manual processes of the acquired companies. The ideal candidate will also train AI agents and generally be very technology forward-thinking.
