Clinical Director, EMS

Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-Roswell) is seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Clinical Education for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. This position oversees the clinical education components of the program, ensuring students receive high-quality, hands-on learning experiences in clinical and field settings. The Director plays a critical role in maintaining accreditation standards, developing and sustaining partnerships with clinical agencies, and supporting student success. This is a 12-month administrative faculty appointment reporting to the EMS Program Director and the Dean of the School of Health Sciences.

This position requires occasional evening and weekend duties, as well as travel to clinical sites and training institutions throughout New Mexico and occasionally out of state.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise full-time and adjunct faculty as assigned.
• Develop, coordinate, and oversee clinical education experiences for EMS students enrolled in the EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic programs.
• Establish and maintain clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals, EMS agencies, and other healthcare facilities.
• Ensure clinical sites meet accreditation standards and provide safe, effective, and educational learning environments for students.
• Schedule, coordinate, and monitor student clinical rotations to ensure compliance with program requirements and accreditation standards.
• Travel to clinical sites and training institutions to conduct evaluations, provide clinical instruction, perform clinical duties, and support other instructors as needed.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the EMS program and clinical affiliates, facilitating communication and resolving concerns as needed.
• Evaluate clinical sites and preceptors to ensure the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of student learning experiences.
• Collaborate with EMS faculty to integrate clinical experiences with didactic and laboratory instruction.
• Provide guidance and support to students throughout their clinical education, addressing academic, professional, and performance-related concerns.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student clinical hours, performance evaluations, competencies, and required clinical records.
• Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain current knowledge of EMS education practices, accreditation requirements, and industry standards.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and departmental functions as required.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures of ENMU-Roswell and the ENMU System.
• Represent ENMU-Roswell and the EMS Program professionally and promote a positive image of the institution.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Associate degree (or must be obtained within two years of the hire date).
• Three years of field experience in emergency medical services (EMS).
• Current and valid certification as a New Mexico-licensed Paramedic.
• NM Level II Instructor/Coordinator credential (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor credentials (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Previous experience coordinating clinical education or serving in a related EMS education role.
• Strong understanding of EMS clinical practices, protocols, and accreditation requirements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable transportation required, as this position involves moderate travel.
• Proficiency with clinical tracking software and learning management systems (LMS).

• Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Advanced certifications such as Critical Care Paramedic (CCP), Tactical Paramedic (TP-C), or EMS Instructor certification.
• Experience with accreditation processes and requirements, including CoAEMSP and CAAHEP standards.
• Membership in relevant professional organizations, such as National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
• NAEMT instructor credentials in PHTLS, AMLS, GEMS, EPC, TCCC, TECC and EMS Safety.

• Work is primarily conducted indoors in a non-smoking facility, as well as at various clinical and healthcare training sites.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift, move, stand, walk, reach, and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, observe instructional and clinical activities, and interact with students, faculty, and clinical partners. Work may involve occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Frequent travel to clinical sites and training institutions throughout New Mexico, with occasional out-of-state travel, is required.
