This position provides strategic communication planning and support for North Carolina Area Health Education Centers, developing and implementing statewide communication strategies for AHEC's nine regions. The role assists with brand reputation, messaging strategies, executive communications, issues management, internal and external communications, social media, media relations, analytics, project management, client relations and agency management.

Responsibilities:

* Timely communications planning, writing, editing: Management of a content calendar covering NC AHEC internal- and external-facing communications channels.

* Manage internal communications channels including intranets, newsletters, emails, and more.

* Manage external communications channels including printed materials, social media platforms, websites, and more.

* Strategic planning and execution, including refining core messaging to ensure organizational consistency as well as consistent framing for key audiences.

* Creation or management of graphic design products for NC AHEC projects in line with organizational brand standards.

* Edit and guide content produced by teammates to align with organizational brand standards.

* Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure consistent execution of communication around the organization's goals and values.

* Assist with multimedia production, including publications, photography, videography, and more.

* Strategic development focused on advancing the organization's reputation and growing brand awareness.

* Assist with inquiries from news media and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with internal and external communications planning and execution in line with best practices and trends.

* Experience collaborating on issues management by anticipating, preventing or responding to issues.

* Analytical mindset and ability to interpret data, analyze trends, draw actionable insights, reflect on project execution to inform future decisions.

* Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across organizations.

* Experience with multimedia content production across platforms.

* Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP or Perl, as well as Wordpress.

    Education Requirements:
    * Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Science or related field.
    Licensure/Certification Requirements:
    * No licensure or certification required.
    Professional Experience Requirements:
    * Three (3) year of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
    * Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.
