Maternal Fetal Medicine Director, NYU Langone Health Advanced Fetal Care Center

NYU Langone Health has launched the Advanced Fetal Care Center (AFCC) with the vision of becoming the premier fetal care center in the country. This program is a partnership between pediatric surgery at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital and obstetrics and gynecology at NYU Langone Health. The AFCC is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary fetal center dedicated to providing innovative care for patients with complex fetal conditions. We are advancing the field of fetal therapy and helping establish New York City as a destination for comprehensive fetal diagnosis, fetal intervention, and fetal surgery. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Health is seeking an accomplished Maternal-Fetal Medicine subspecialist with expertise in fetal diagnosis and fetal therapy to join our dynamic faculty at our Manhattan campuses.

The successful candidate will join one of the nation's best academic health systems, with access to three high-volume obstetric hospitals, a large regional referral network, nationally recognized pediatric and adult subspecialists, and outstanding institutional support for innovation, research, and program development.

As a dedicated fetal care leader, the successful candidate will focus on comprehensive multidisciplinary fetal care while helping shape the future direction of the AFCC through clinical innovation, research, education, quality improvement, and program development. Initially, up to 20% of the candidate's clinical effort may be devoted to general maternal-fetal medicine while the fetal care program continues to grow, with the goal of transitioning to a fully fetal care-focused practice as clinical volume supports it.The MFM director of the AFCC will be involved in of the full spectrum of fetal interventions and integrated in the innovation and cutting edge fetal surgeries developed and performed at AFCC..

The MFM Director will provide leadership across the full continuum of fetal care, from prenatal diagnosis and counseling through fetal intervention, delivery planning, and coordination of neonatal and pediatric subspecialty care, ensuring an exceptional patient and family experience while fostering seamless collaboration across specialties. This role will serve as a key physician leader in advancing the AFCC's mission of delivering innovative, evidence-based care and expanding access to comprehensive fetal services throughout the region.

The MFM Director will report jointly to Jose Peiro, MD, Director of the Advanced Fetal Care Center, and Justin Brandt, MD, Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

The MFM Director of the AFCC duties are the following:

Clinical Leadership:

• Partner with the Director of the AFCC to provide high quality care to fetal care patients and their families.
• Provide comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine care focused on fetal diagnosis, advanced fetal imaging, fetal intervention, and management of pregnancies complicated by complex fetal conditions.
• Lead and expand the clinical and procedural portfolio of fetal therapy services while ensuring coordinated, patient- and family-centered care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary fetal case conferences and collaborative treatment planning to optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.
• Develop individualized care plans spanning prenatal diagnosis through fetal intervention, delivery planning, and postnatal care.
• Partner with other Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians and leaders in the NYU Langone Health System, NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine to lead the AFCC.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to other members of their Maternal Fetal Medicine team inside of the AFCC.

Program Leadership:

• Partner with clinical and hospital executive leadership to define and execute the strategic vision for the Advanced Fetal Care Center.
• Lead the continued expansion of fetal diagnostic, medical, and procedural services.
• Develop and refine evidence-based clinical pathways, multidisciplinary care models, and best practices in fetal intervention and perinatal management.
• Foster collaboration across Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Pediatric Surgery, Neonatology, Pediatric Cardiology, Radiology, Genetics, Anesthesiology, Nursing, and other pediatric and maternal specialties.

Clinical Operations & Quality:

• Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational excellence, and patient experience.
• Monitor program metrics and outcomes to support continuous improvement and national benchmarking.
• Support development of standardized protocols, clinical guidelines, and regulatory readiness for fetal care services.

Research & Innovation:

• Engage in and expand clinical, translational, and outcomes research in fetal diagnosis and fetal therapy.
• Foster innovation in fetal intervention and multidisciplinary fetal care.
• Support participation in multicenter clinical trials and dissemination of research through presentations and publications.

Education:

• Lead educational initiatives for Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows, residents, medical students, and multidisciplinary learners.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty while advancing education in fetal diagnosis, fetal intervention, and multidisciplinary fetal care.

Program Growth & Outreach:

• Partner with the AFCC Clinical Outreach Director to expand the AFCC's regional referral network and strengthen collaborations with referring physicians and healthcare organizations.
• Represent the AFCC at regional and national meetings while promoting the continued growth and visibility of NYU Langone's fetal care program.

• MD or equivalent, with board certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
• Eligibility for New York State medical licensure.
• Fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal medicine and significant experience in fetal therapy, fetal intervention, or leadership within a comprehensive fetal care program.
• Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clinical program development.
