Optum is hiring Medical Directors to support inpatient care management in remote, full-time roles. These positions are ideal for physicians who want to apply their clinical expertise in a strategic, administrative setting that improves care outcomes. Your Impact: Conduct acute level-of-care and length-of-stay reviews for medical necessity Collaborate with treating providers via peer-to-peer telephonic outreach Apply evidence-based guidelines (e.g., InterQual) to support care decisions Partner with internal teams on clinical and quality initiatives What you bring: MD or DO degree Board certification in an ABMS or AOA specialty Active, unrestricted medical license in Missouri (must also reside in Missouri) Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience within an inpatient setting Why Join Optum?
