The Commission to Combat Police Corruption ("CCPC") was created in 1995 in response to the findings of the Mollen Commission, which recommended that an independent monitor be established to monitor and evaluate New York City Police Department ("NYPD") anti-corruption measures and to ensure that the NYPD is vigilant in combatting corruption among its members. As that independent monitor, the Commission is responsible for performing audits, studies, and analyses to assess the quality of the NYPD's systems for preventing, detecting, and investigating allegations of corruption or serious misconduct. The six-member Commission also evaluates the sufficiency of any discipline imposed on officers found to have committed misconduct or violated the NYPD's rules or guidelines.
