The Department of Athletics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an Analyst for WVU Baseball.

About the Opportunity

This position will support the baseball coaching staff by collecting, organizing, and analyzing player and team performance data to enhance player development, scouting, and game preparation. This role assists with statistical reporting, baseball technology operations, video analysis, and recruiting analytics while providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.

What You'll Do

• Collect, organize, and maintain baseball performance data and video for practices, bullpens, and games for the baseball team as assigned by the Head Coach
• Assist with the creation of statistical and analytical reports to support player development and game preparation.
• Input, monitor, and verify player statistics and performance metrics within team databases.
• Support the maintenance and organization of player performance databases and tracking systems.
• Operate baseball technology and data collection equipment during practices, bullpens, competitions, camps, and other team activities.
• Assist in charting and coding games and practice data for use by coaches and support staff.
• Prepare weekly statistical summaries and analytical updates for coaches and staff.
• Assist with the development of scouting reports on opposing teams and players.
• Compile player baseline metrics and performance comparisons using conference and national data.
• Asist with monitoring transfer portal activity and assist with recruiting data collection and evaluation projects.
• Assist with the coordination of logistics and scheduling support for recruiting visits and recruiting-related activities.
• Maintain player goal-tracking boards and performance monitoring systems.
• Assist with Baseball Performance Center operations, including data collection and technology support.
• Serve as a resource for coaches by providing requested statistical and analytical information.
• Support student managers with data collection and technology-related tasks.
• Assist with special projects, research initiatives, and other analytical assignments as directed by the baseball coaching staff and director of baseball operations.
• Participate in on-field activities and provide operational support during practices and games as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach.
• Report directly to the Head Coach; must also work closely with all others involved with carrying out the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletic program.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines of West Virginia University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA; must adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11.1 Conduct of Athletic Personnel. Failure to adhere to these policies will result in appropriate disciplinary action including possible suspension and termination.
• Represent the University on the highest professional level with dignity, integrity, and strength of character and will exhibit ethical behavior; must respect the rights and dignity of individuals with sensitivity to problems that may arise from racial and ethnical differences.
• Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards the news media and external consistencies in order to promote the baseball program.
• Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports within the intercollegiate athletic program.
• Possess the ability to adapt to any situation, make decisions and work independently; position must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff members and constituencies; required to use creative abilities to develop new techniques and approaches in dealing with many issues controlled by this position; responsibilities of the position are ever-changing and require constant education; requires the ability to adapt to any situation and make decisions.
• Manage sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, coaches and staff utilizing discretion and correct decisions. Failure to use proper discretion at required level could result in major and significant embarrassment to the University and/or have a significant impact on image, revenues and eligibility of student-athletes.
• Manage professional and personal time to be handle time sensitive-issues, tight deadlines, extended hours beyond the normal workday, weekend work, extensive travel and on-call availability.
• Faithfully and diligently execute related duties of the department, as requested or assigned by the Head Coach.
  

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of one (1) year experience, preferably at NCAA Division I level.
• Experience as a Graduate Assistant is acceptable
• Knowledge and understanding of baseball statistics, analytics, player evaluation, and player development concepts
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
