Job Summary:

In a career as a Manager Pharmacy Operations, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will assume responsibility for implementing departmental policies relevant to the operation of the Department of Pharmacy. Assist in the planning of new concepts in drug distribution and control in accordance with established hospital policy and accepted standards of proper pharmacy practice. Assume directions of the Department in the absence of the Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Initiates, schedules, directs and controls day-to-day operations of the department; performs in some part, and delegates remainder; coordinates department's activities with those of other departments. Coordinates with other management staff in establishing checks and quality controls to ensure quality of care.
  • Responsible for the supervision, scheduling, training, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Oversees drug purchasing functions; assists in plans to effect economy in the purchase of drugs; communicates with pharmaceutical representatives; purchases and provides suitable storage of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Manages drug inventory to ensure therapies can be maintained. Coordinates product selection and provider communication.
  • Serves as the primary lead for 340B Program operations, compliance, and optimization, including audit management, regulatory adherence, and drugsavings optimization; directs a small team supporting auditing and optimization initiatives and ensures continuous program improvement through annual participation in 340B conferences.
  • Coordinates with billing, revenue integrity, and finance teams to resolve billing exceptions and ensure 340B compliant billing practices.
  • Serves on BTNRH Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and provides updates pertaining to hospital pharmacy operations, medication safety, quality, and compliance metrics.
  • Participates in drug diversion monitoring and compliance by ensuring controlled medications are properly received, documented, and secured within inventory systems and by serving on the Drug Diversion Committee.
  • Participates and provides input during annual budgeting process (operations and capital).
  • Acts as a drug consultant to support services and ancillary departments. Consults with members of the medical staff on orders for non-formulary drugs to offer formulary alternatives when possible.
  • Makes necessary arrangements to obtain drugs needed in emergency situations.
  • Participates in contract negotiation and selection finding appropriate services and terms to support our mission.
  • Oversees inspection processes across hospital departments, ambulatory clinics, contracted offsite locations, and affiliated entities to support regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and consistent policy application. Reports inspection findings, corrective action plans, and compliance trend analysis to the P&T Committee.
  • Oversees and manages pharmacy billing queues for highcost, highquantity, and highrisk medications to ensure timely and accurate charge capture
  • Acts in the absence of Director of Pharmacy, covering all duties including but not limited to those pertaining to operations and corporate responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Pharmacist who is a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a current state license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of operational pharmacy experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Familiarity with the following platforms and federal programs- EPIC, Omnicell, 340B, Medicare and Medicaid required.
  • BLS certified within 90 days of transfer or hire required.
