Job Title: Field Engineer 2

Location(s): Costa Mesa, CA

Position Overview
We are seeking a Field Engineer 2 to provide enterprise-level hardware, software, server, desktop, laptop, networking, and deployment support. The role will function as a team/site lead when required and will handle complex technical issues, installations, break/fix activities, infrastructure rollouts, and desk-side support.

Minimum experience required: 4 years, which must be clearly reflected on the resume.

Work Schedule
The position will primarily involve an evening/night shift, generally 3:00 PM to midnight. However, work hours may vary depending on the specific project and client requirements.

On-site position.
Driving is not required. Candidates will work at one location per day and will not be reimbursed for normal commuting mileage. Projects may last one day, several days, or a couple of weeks depending on business requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Field Engineer 2 and, when required, function as a team or site lead.
  • Install, diagnose, service, and maintain enterprise computer products and infrastructure.
  • Provide desk-side support for desktops, laptops, printers, servers, networking equipment, and related technology.
  • Perform break/fix support for enterprise servers and storage systems.
  • Support enterprise products, including Dell enterprise solutions.
  • Provide support for enterprise storage products.
  • Support networking products, including Cisco-based environments.
  • Support payment systems and other specialized proprietary technology.
  • Install and maintain PCs, associated software, networks, servers, and peripherals.
  • Perform installs, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC).
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, desktop, laptop, and server issues.
  • Provide maintenance and support for legacy products.
  • Test and certify PCs, networks, servers, and approved client applications.
  • Perform hardware and software configuration, tuning, staging, installation, and interoperability testing.
  • Support deployment services and the implementation and rollout of new infrastructure and applications.
  • Assist with hardware and software procurement activities.
  • Follow standard procedures, methods, scripts, and tools when supporting ITO engagements.
  • Receive direction from Help Desk or Service Desk teams as required.
  • Handle complex products, problems, and projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to lower-level engineers and technicians.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and provide follow-up until resolution.
  • Ensure incident and service-request tickets are accurately updated within the ticketing system.
  • Maintain client-specific Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
  • Ensure a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction throughout service delivery.
  • May assume project-management responsibilities for smaller technical projects.
Deployment Services Responsibilities
The engineer will support projects involving the implementation and rollout of new applications and infrastructure. Activities may include:
  • Hardware and software procurement
  • Configuration
  • Tuning
  • Staging
  • Installation
  • Interoperability testing
  • Infrastructure deployment
  • Application rollout
  • Hardware replacement and break/fix
  • Site-level implementation support
Technical Environment
The ideal candidate should have experience supporting:
  • Enterprise servers
  • Enterprise storage
  • Dell enterprise products
  • Desktop and laptop computers
  • Printers and peripherals
  • Windows and standard enterprise software
  • Networking equipment
  • Cisco environments
  • Payment systems
  • Proprietary enterprise products
  • Legacy infrastructure
  • Enterprise ticketing systems
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Strong experience with enterprise hardware break/fix.
  • Strong desk-side/field support experience.
  • Experience repairing and troubleshooting desktops and laptops.
  • Experience installing desktops, laptops, printers, software, servers, and peripherals.
  • Experience supporting enterprise servers and storage.
  • Experience with deployment, staging, configuration, and infrastructure/application rollouts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
  • Ability to lead technicians or provide technical direction when required.
  • A+ Certification is preferred/required based on client screening.
  • Cisco certification/experience may be required for applicable networking responsibilities.
