Position Summary

This position is responsible for receiving material from supplier delivery for storage or distribution to workstations and various plant department. The person in this position will work and communicate with multiple stakeholders on job status, work orders, and material needs. The person in this position must maintain a high degree of quality, excellent time management skills and strict adherence of all safety protocols.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operate overhead crane
  • Issue and receive all raw material to and from machining areas
  • Deliver raw material to all machining areas
  • Operate lift trucks, including loading and unloading scrap on and off trucks
  • Weigh trucks
  • Set up and operate the Cut Off Saw, Side Winder and bar marking machine to cut off and stamp stock
  • Verify incoming material paperwork to ensure accurate inventory records
  • Maintain a high degree of quality in all work processes
  • Perform cycle counts on a prescribed basis to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Communicates with multiple stakeholders (supervisors, dept. leads, planners, and peers) on the status of jobs, needed tools, work orders, etc.
  • Reviews work orders and issues and/or returns material through computerized inventory management system
  • Strict adherence of safety protocols while operating equipment and moving material. This includes self-reporting any equipment failures or safety related incidents.
  • Maintains proper 5S for the work area, including cleaning floors and machines of excess oil and chips
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Requires basic math, reading, writing, and print reading skills

  • Requires basic proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel)

  • Requires excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize incoming tasks

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment to meet quality and quantity standards

  • Ability to control operations of equipment

  • Demonstration of a strong work ethic and is a self-starter

  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

  • Ability to determine causes of operating errors

  • Ability to adhere to structured work guidelines and schedules

  • Ability to read and follow visual cues

  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions

  • Ability to work individually and as a team

  • Ability to work within High Performance Team (HPY guidelines and utilize Lean tools and principles

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to reach, bend, twist, and squat frequently
  • Must be able to stand and walk for most of an eight-hour shift
