Job Duties
- Read and interpret machining instructions from complex blueprints, part, and machine drawings.
- Set up all tooling, write, and execute complex programs.
- Operate and program a wide range of production work.
- Perform secondary operations such as stamping part numbers and deburring during machine cycle times.
- Inspect machine parts using micrometers and other measuring tools to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance and quality audits within the machine shop department.
- Independently write programs as required.
- Assist in other areas and perform additional tasks as needed.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, machining certificate, or CNC programming education preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification or associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of CNC programming experience
Experience Requirements
- Experience operating, setting up, or programming CNC machine tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
- Understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical ability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Proven experience as a CNC programmer or similar role
- Proficiency in G-code and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
- Strong understanding of machining processes (milling, turning, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Knowledge of tooling, materials, and cutting techniques
- Familiarity with quality control standards and measurement tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment is preferred.
- Experience editing CNC programs, setting tooling offsets, and performing machine setups is beneficial.
- Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, continuous learning, and commitment to precision manufacturing are well positioned for success as a CNC Programmer.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around machining equipment throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate CNC machinery and precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
