Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Northwestern Pritzker School of Law invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) positions with an expected start date in advance of the 2027-28 academic year. The VAP program at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is designed to provide law school graduates who are planning to embark on an academic career with the opportunity to fully participate in our scholarly community. Those participating in the VAP program will receive targeted mentorship, opportunities to present research, and academic placement support. The number of available positions will vary annually, and appointments will typically be for one year with the opportunity for reappointment for one additional year. VAPs will have access to the extensive teaching support resources of Northwestern University and will be expected to teach a substantive course, to be determined in consultation with the Associate Dean in charge of curriculum, in each year of the appointment. The positions are full-time, benefits eligible, and offer a competitive annual salary and research support funding. Northwestern seeks applications from graduates of any law school and any year of graduation. We encourage applications from those with experience practicing law and/or recipients of a Ph.D. in any field with sustained scholarly interest in law. VAP applications will be assessed based on a candidate's potential to pursue a tenure-track position at a top law school after completing the program. This base pay range is for a twelve-month academic appointment and is subject to negotiation. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
