Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at City of Hope where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research.

The laboratory of Dr. Yanzhong Yang in the Department of Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate mechanisms of chromatin regulation, transcriptional control, and epigenetic signaling in cancer. Research in the Yang laboratory focuses on understanding how protein arginine methylation and methylarginine reader proteins regulate chromatin function, gene expression, RNA processing, and genome organization in normal and disease states. We employ a multidisciplinary approach integrating biochemistry, molecular biology, functional genomics, genome engineering, and computational analyses to uncover fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation and identify novel therapeutic opportunities in human diseases, such as cancer, immune dysregulation, and neuronal disorders.

As a successful candidate you will:

  • Lead independent projects utilizing state-of-the-art genomic and transcriptomic technologies, including ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq, PRO-seq, RNA-seq, CRISPR-based functional screens, and single-cell approaches to study epigenetic and transcriptional regulation in cancer.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Epigenetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Genomics, or a closely related field.

  • Strong background in chromatin biology, transcriptional regulation, epigenetics, or RNA biology.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

  • Experience designing, executing, and troubleshooting complex biological experiments independently.

  • Evidence of research productivity demonstrated by first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly self-motivated, creative, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with next-generation sequencing-based genomic technologies, including ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, ATAC-seq, PRO-seq, RNA-seq, or related approaches.

  • Experience performing and interpreting functional genomic experiments related to gene regulation, chromatin organization, or transcription.

  • Familiarity with bioinformatic analysis of genomic or transcriptomic datasets, including command-line tools or commonly used sequencing analysis pipelines.

  • Experience integrating multi-omics datasets to investigate regulatory mechanisms in cancer.
