Sr. Manager, Data Partnerships

Ready to build what's next with one of the world's most iconic brands?

Why Join Subway?

At Subway, we are not standing still. We are building.

This is a business focused on what matters most: growing franchisee profitability, strengthening our brand and creating long-term value. The people who thrive here are the ones who want to make a real impact.

You will not just do the work. You will shape it.

We move fast. We think like owners. We make decisions that matter. We hold ourselves to a high standard because what we do directly impacts thousands of franchisees around the world.

If you bring energy, accountability and a bias for action, you will fit right in.

We take the work seriously, but we also know the best results come from teams that support each other, celebrate wins and show up ready to build something better every day.

This is your chance to be part of what's next.

About the Role:

The Sr. Manager, Data Partnerships is a business-facing partner who works directly with stakeholders across the organization to agree, record, certify, and defend the business definitions that make Subway's data trustworthy for AI-driven and self-service use. Owns what data means (not what gets built), and prototypes hands-on with Claude and Claude Code to move faster.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Business definitions: agree what each measure means, its grain, and the dimensions it can be sliced by, directly with the stakeholders who use it. Make the final call, and own the outcome, on a contested definition when consensus is unavailable. Escalate contested definitions with no identifiable business decision-maker, and multi-business-unit disputes with real financial, operational, or regulatory consequence.
  • Stakeholder relationship: engage the business regularly and proactively to understand how it operates, what matters to each stakeholder and why, and what that means for how data should be defined.
  • Certification: decide independently whether and when to formally certify a definition as trustworthy, drawing on technical validation from the Sr. Product Manager, Data Foundation when a call requires it.
  • Hands-on prototyping: use Claude and Claude Code directly to prototype a definition, explore data, or sketch something concrete for engineering to build from. Define what AI/ML models, agents, and systems need to get right and judge whether they did. Prototyping does not extend to owning what ships to production.
  • Classification: review the sensitivity classification of data, including where a system proposes one automatically, rather than accepting it unreviewed. Stakeholder advocacy and handoff: surface what matters to the business and why, give input on prioritization when asked (without owning the decision), and hand requests to the Delivery team as soon as they shift from what something means to what gets delivered.

Qualifications, Competencies & Traits:

  • 5-8 years of experience translating how a business actually runs into data definitions, requirements, or governance
  • Track record of holding a position with senior stakeholders under real disagreement, not just resenting to them
  • Enough technical grounding to evaluate a grain or certification call and know when to push back, without building the pipeline, model, or agent yourself
  • Basic SQL and data engineering fundamentals, sufficient to evaluate a grain call firsthand rather than take someone else's word for it
  • Comfortable using Claude and Claude Code directly to prototype a definition, explore data, or sketch something for engineering to build from, moving on your own judgment
  • Fluency in how Subway's business operates (restaurant, franchise, and franchisee economics)
  • Background in business analysis, data governance, analytics leadership, or client success / product success, with real data fluency

What do we offer?

  • Insurance Plans (Medical, Life)
  • Pension/401k/RSP (country specific)
  • Competitive Bonus
