Description

Your Role

Gensler's Brand Experience Design Studio is driven by strategic thinking, multidisciplinary talent, and a commitment to bringing people together through the power of storytelling. We use immersive technology, art, and thoughtful interactions to create richly layered, inhabitable stories that forge lasting emotional connections.

We are seeking an Experience Designer with a strong background in physical and spatial design who is passionate about bringing ambitious ideas into the built environment. Based out of our growing Charlotte office, this role is ideal for someone who can move seamlessly between concept development and technical execution, translating experiential narratives into compelling visualizations, coordinated design documentation, and realized spaces.

What You Will Do

  • Design immersive brand, cultural, retail, hospitality, workplace, and public experiences that integrate story, space, interaction, and technology
  • Develop spatial concepts and environmental design systems from early ideation through construction and installation
  • Produce compelling 3D visualizations, renderings, and presentations that communicate design intent to clients and project teams
  • Create detailed design intent packages and drawing sets integrating architectural, fabrication, media, lighting, and technology requirements
  • Develop and maintain 3D models throughout the design process
  • Coordinate designs with architecture, interiors, engineering, media, lighting, and specialty consultant teams
  • Collaborate with fabricators, vendors, production partners, and contractors to ensure design quality through implementation
  • Participate in site visits, fabrication reviews, mockups, installations, and project delivery
  • Contribute to strategic thinking and creative development while maintaining a strong focus on execution and craftsmanship
  • Mentor junior designers and help elevate design quality across project teams

Who You Are

  • A designer who loves creating experiences at the intersection of brand, architecture, technology, and storytelling
  • Equally excited by conceptual development, visual communication, and technical resolution
  • Comfortable operating across scales, from experiential moments and exhibits to large-scale environments and placemaking initiatives
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a strong understanding of how great ideas become buildable realities
  • Collaborative, curious, and energized by multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Confident presenting ideas and interfacing directly with clients, consultants, and fabrication partners

Your Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in experiential design, environmental graphic design, exhibition design, architecture, interior architecture, or a related field
  • Professional proficiency in 3D modeling workflows
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating realized physical environments, branded experiences, exhibitions, installations, or other built work
  • Experience producing design intent drawings and coordinating documentation across multiple disciplines
  • Knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, construction processes, and integrated technology systems
  • Excellent visualization, diagramming, and storytelling skills
  • Architecture or environmental design background strongly preferred
  • Experience working across brand, digital, and experiential environments is highly valued
  • Motion design or animation skills are a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Software Competency:
    • Mastery: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop), MS Office
    • Proficiency: Revit and other 3D modeling software such as Rhino, Sketchup, or similar
    • Nice to have: UX/UI prototyping e.g., Figma, Adobe Express, Adobe XD, Miro Prototype Pro or similar, Motion graphics or video editing e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro or similar

For consideration, please submit a personal portfolio that contains examples of project work that highlights your creative process from concept to final deliverables.

This role is not remote; we look forward to working with our new Experience Designer in our growing Charlotte office.
