Short Description

Carries out procedures for department functions, including, but not limited to:

  • Washing, inspecting, packaging, and sterilizing instruments/equipment
  • Maintaining accurate monitoring records
  • Using and interpreting chemical and biological indicators
  • Performs appropriate cleaning of all sterilization equipment
  • Assisting OR personnel in locating/reprocessing instruments
  • Participating in performance improvement activities.
  • Follows established policies & procedures.
  • Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.
  • Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.

Experience Required

  • 2 years experience in decontamination and sterilization of supplies, surgical instruments, and equipment. (Required)

    2 years experience in specific areas of focus including but not limited to surgical instrumentation, information management, or department inventory control. (Preferred)

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, initiative and ability to take independent action, and be capable of establishing and maintaining outstanding working relationships

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.

Completion of a Central Sterile Processing course.


License/Certification Requirements

CSP Certification (CRCST or CBSPD Certification).


Special Requirements

Must maintain certification.

Additional unit specifications may be required.

Cover Ambulatory Surgical Centers as needed per Manager

Hourly Rate Min $23
Hourly Rate Max $37


The New Jersey Pay Transparency Act requires disclosure of the pay range for this position.

A salary offer will vary based on the job role, candidate experience, qualifications, internal pay equity and market data.
