The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (CCNP) is a member of the medical intensive care team and has as his/her primary responsibility the management of a caseload of critically ill complex (multi-organ) patients in an intensive care setting. The CCNP will work in collaboration with the critical care attending. The CCNP has specialized skill and knowledge related to critical care and performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services in the ICU or step-down unit. The CCNP contributes to excellence in patient care, evidenced based practice, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and nursing profession.

ABOUT THE Critical Care/MICU A & B DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: Boston Medical Center has two medical intensive care units (MICUs). One consists of 17 beds (MICU A) and the other consists of 10 beds (MICU B). Patient populations on these units consist of the most acute medical patients including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis. EDUCATION: Master's degree in nursing required. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification is required. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
