THE OPPORTUNITY

Michelin has an immediate opportunity at our American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC) plant in Louisville, KY for a Control System Engineer to maintain and modify the control systems of the site in a high paced, dynamic, operational facility. This position aligns directly with Michelin's core values of creating a quality product that delivers value to its customers. This role's purpose is to maintain, modify, and improve the control system respecting the management of change process and applying all compliance standards to the control system. WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Be the system owner for the Process Control System (presently 800xA with MOD Controllers).
  • Be the system owner for the Drying Control System (presently 800xA with AC800M Controllers).
  • Implement control configurations, develop operator interfaces, create communication interfaces etc. to support industrializations, plant projects and MOC requests.
  • Administer the control system domains in compliance with security rules including performing routine backups, patching, endpoint protection, managing users, password policies, etc.
  • Manage capital projects and small projects to upgrade and support plant control systems and Automation. Validate options, obtain approval, manage budgets, and work with contractors.
  • Support Engineering projects that require additional or modified controls.
  • Develop an understanding of plant processes and be able to identify enhancement opportunities and optimizations including tuning or control strategies.
  • Work with contractors & plant maintenance to implement projects and process improvements.
  • Provide trouble-shooting support at every level and share responsibility for call-in support.
  • Maintain network and other supporting system documentation.
  • Develop and administer relevant training for engineering, maintenance, and operations users.
  • Maintain open communication with Engineering, Quality, Production, Safety and Environmental Protection groups to provide required support in a timely manner.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with external partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • 2-4 year degree in engineering discipline and 1-5 years' experience in automation or controls engineering environment. (Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering fields preferred)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to become proficient with use of internal software systems.
  • Familiarity with HMI's and development of control strategies.
  • Attention to detail, data accuracy.
  • AutoCAD experience helpful but not required
  • Instrumentation experience is a plus
