The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Digital Image Specialist will work in the Division of Anatomic Pathology. Duties will include creating digital images of glass pathology slides, completing quality control checks to ensure high quality images, cleans slides when needed, checks for label accuracy and bar code recognition.

Responsibilities



  • 45%- QA Review- Digital Image

    • Post reviews slides by spot checking images in the viewer (image scope) for image quality.
    • Review images in the scanner to resolve any scanner alerts, ensuring comprehensive capture of all tissue and accurate reading of barcodes.
    • Verifies that all patient information is accurate and images with all of its information has been transferred to the LIS.
    • Identifies and documents QA deficiencies.
    • Completes quality control duties in a timely manner as per departments turnaround time expectations.


  • 25%- Administrative Responsibilities

    • Relabels slides as needed if the bar code does not read properly.
    • Assists lab technicians with locating misplaced slides. Completes needed documentation to report equipment failures.
    • Adheres to the hospital and department standards and policies for the release of any patient information.
    • Follows proper protocol and the department's standard operating procedures when reporting and documenting QA Issues.
    • Maintains neat and accurate records, completes hand off communication for the next shift, and assists in data collection for workflow or metric monitoring as requested.


  • 25%- QA/QI- Digital Imager

    • Prepares and scans pathology slides to create digital images for clinical and research purposes.
    • Completes pre scan slide quality checks, troubleshoots scanners as necessary in accordance with the standard operations procedures.


  • 5% - Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Two years of related work experience preferred.
  • Certification for Digital Imager and 3-4 years of experience in Digital Pathology.
